If you want to do it right then you need to bias by police stops/interactions. Cops stop and arrest many more minorities proportionally too. I don't know how it all works out.
What would happen if said minorities were committing crimes at a disproportionate rate?
Do you have data on crimes committed which factors in crimes that were not caught by law enforcement?
I'd say that in the context of police killings that it wouldn't help your case either way.

I'll concede that I have seen a few unarmed, nonviolent people shot by cops, but it's very few.

We are talking about cop fatalities not the other way around. 72% of cops are killed by white people which is really close to the demographic split. However cops stop minorities at a greater rate than the demographic proportion. That is what I am saying.
I get that you want to justify police killing others but that is not what we are discussing.
