He makes the playoffs
they certainly deserve each other
They gave Dwayne Bowe $9 million guaranteed last year, so this is a bargain comparatively.
So for people that think this is good, are you then thinking the team has success? To what degree?
...perfect
RGIII is a backup at the NFL level, I can't believe the Browns don't see this. Hard to believe the best QB that franchise has ever had was Otto Graham way back in the day.
As a Baylor, Cleveland, and Robert Griffin fan, I say WTF to this signing. Clearly nobody else was interested, and I guess whatever SF wanted for Kaepernick was too steep. Robert's biggest problem, aside from his vastly inflated ego, is his willingness to put himself at risk. He's not getting a lot of protection in Cleveland even if his line actually wants to keep him upright.
Here's where it gets potentially interesting. If the Browns don't just want Griffin to be a stopgap while they groom Goff, they could take advantage of the scramble for teams to trade up to get some assets along with a stud offensive lineman or two from the draft.
If Griffin's primadona head phase has been beaten out of him, he should be able to run an NFL team.
ahh yes, Cleveland...the perfect place to resurrect one's career
RGIII Tears ACL Walking Into Browns Facility For First Time
BEREA, OH – The Cleveland Browns made it in the news for the first time this offseason for something not bad happening involving a quarterback. As of around 11am ET Thursday, Robert Griffin III is the newest name on the Browns long list of quarterbacks that they hope will work out.
Griffin, coming off a season of sitting on the pine in Washington under Kirk Cousins, was looked upon highly from the Browns coaching staff for his athleticism and potential as a passer, especially after a year of rest from injuries and playing in general. But Griffin couldn’t avoid the injury bug for long.
While literally taking his first steps at the Browns training/practice facility in Berea, Griffin planted his foot and crumbled to the ground in front of Hue Jackson and Griffin’s agent. Lying in that all too familiar position, Griffin murmured under his breath. “Not Again. Oh, no. Not Again.”
Griffin was taken to the Cleveland Clinic shortly after, with the Browns coaching staff and Girffin’s people fearing the worst. Ligament specialist Dr. Bryce Johnson diagnosed the quarterback with a partially torn ACL, re-injuring the same he’s torn through previously.
Multiple sources and players around the league think Griffin used this as a ploy, purposely injuring himself to avoid having to play for the Browns, but Griffin’s camp has denied such allegations, calling them, “plausible, but unlikely.”
No word yet on if the Browns will revoke their 2-year, 12 million dollar offer they had on the table, but team owner Jimmy Haslam joking noted, “We’ll bring it to him next time…”
What? I want them to. Assuming we don't trade down, we'll have the choice of Ramsey, Jack or Bosa if they do.
