today Wiz need to win to get 5th seed. they will go all out. The question is, does Detroit put a little fight so Wizards don't go 3-0 on the series and 2-0 IN detroit???

I think Detroit will put up a "little' fight for honor but Wiz will win it.

Detroit will go down the depth chart and the backups will get the majority of the playing time. Arenas will abuse Delk and Acker for this must win game. As a Piston supporter I'll be happy to see Amir & J-Max produce decent #s , have fun and gain confidence towards the offseason. Here's to a Wizard win! I want the Pistons to play the Pacers in the first round; it's always fun to eliminate that bunch.

Wizards should sweep the regular season series against Detroit. Starters will probably start. Maybe even play 15-18 minutes each. Kelvin Cato, Alex Acker, Amir Johnson, Jason Maxiell, and Carlos Delfino should finish the game and even play most to all of the fourth quarter.

The last time the Pistons won the Conference's number one seed, game 82 looked like this:

Danny Manning (31 minutes): 18 points, 6 rebounds 5 steals, and 1 block.
Corliss Williamson (29 minutes): 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.
Tayshaun Prince (27 minutes): 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.
Mehmet Okur (26 minutes): 7 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block.
Chucky Atkins (23 minutes): 8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
Richard Hamilton (23 minutes): 11 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
Mike Curry (21 minutes): 7 points, 5 assists, and 1 steal.
Chauncey Billups (19 minutes): 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists
Don Reid (10 minutes): 1 point, 4 personal fouls - first game back from achilles tear in October. Last career regular season game.
Hubert Davis (6 minutes): 1 rebound, 1 assist.
Pepe Sanchez (4 minutes): 1 rebound.

The irony? Tony Delk (17 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals) led the Boston Celtics to a 99-92 win.

Another fact? The Pistons haven't won a season finale since 2001-02 when the smacked the Bucks out of the playoffs, 123-89.

    2002-03: 92-99 @ Boston.
    2003-04: 78-87 @ Toronto.
    2004-05: 86-97 @ Charlotte.

The last time the Pistons and Wizards played this late in the season was the home finale in 2003-04. The Pistons smoked them 101-79 as Mike James led the Pistons with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists off the bench.

Pistons 41, Wizards 49. Carlos Delfino on track to another career night: 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal thus far. Chauncey Billups sat out the game, all other starters were on the floor.

Butler is going off on the Pistons with 16 first-half points. Arenas and Jamison have 11 each. The reserves said the starters dug too much of a hole for the reserves and that's why they lost the game in Milwaukee. Well, guess what? The Pistons had an 8 point lead when the starters hit the bench, they are now down 8.

Carlos is really shoving it in Flip's face right now for the year of neglect. He has been putting on a show out there. Sadly, Flip will probably bury him on the bench to cover up his obvious mistake in playing Mo Evans over him.

BTW, that fake-behind-the-back pass was sick!

I loved that one-handed dunk down the lane. That was just a guy having fun out there, something we haven't see a whole lot of.

Why are the Pistons playing infront of their bench in the second half? This hasn't happened all year. I think I've seen this in the Palace maybe 20 times in 15 years. It's disconcerting to say the least.

Don't worry, Dumars will clear out playing time for him. He did the same thing for Tayshaun after his rookie year.. Flip won't have a chance to not play him.

    He finished with 27 minutes, 17 points (7-of-9 FG, 2-of-2 3FG), 8 boards, 1 assist, 2 steals.

I think you'll see him playing 20 minutes per game next season. He needs that to be productive. He's just not a 10mpg type of player. If he gets traded I will be PISSED.

    How about this?

    Pistons - 37-4 at home.
Wizards - 2-0 at the Palace.

Keep that team away from us.

So after 6 regular seasons in the Dumars era:

    2000-01: 32-50
    2001-02: 50-32 - Central Division Champions
    2002-03: 50-32 - 1st Seed in Conference
    2003-04: 54-28
    2004-05: 54-28 - Central Division Champions
    2005-06: 64-18 - 1st Seed in Conference
Total: 304-188 (.618) - 4 Divisional Championships, Two Top Seeds in Conference.

They have set records in road wins (2006), road win streak (2002), tied the franchise record win streak (2004), and tied the record for home wins (2006).

    How about this:

    278-132 (.678) - That's the most successful 5 seasons in Pistons basketball (1987-1991). The second best? 272-138 (.663) - 2002-2006.

    That suprised me.

You're actually going to worry about a game where we played scrubs 75% of the game? And the other game, if you recall, was a 2OT game where Ben could have hit a FT to win at the end of the first OT.

I am confident we'll beat them. Even without Chauncey, our main unit was handling them. It wasn't untill the rookies came in that the Wizards started going off.

Well, my interest is in Delfino, but I'm hoping he'll find his way into the Pistons' rotation as well. I'd like to see him getting less minutes in Detroit, but playing team ball and tough defense for something meaningful, rather than going to some crappy team were he could jack up shots and pad his stats. A winning culture rubs off on you. Hopefully he'll get to be a part of Detroit's future.

PS: Thanks SlasherX for the highlights, and FreshPrince22 for the Delfino clip you put together a while back -it was awesome-.
