Weapons, narcotics, endangered plants and wildlife, humans, and other illicitly traded commodities are advantageous to developing economies because regulated, domestic exports (such as auto parts, factory garments or agricultural crops) have been devalued to the point they are no longer compe ive on the global market. Illicit markets are the natural comparative advantage for sustaining local livelihoods, and this is apparent in the homelands of border youth and children.

In the modern era, “forced” and “willing migration” are almost never clearly defined categories, but U.S. immigration policies typically insist upon the later. This undermines the human rights of fleeing children – who are still owed due legal process regardless of whether they are undo ented.
- The U.S. has a sixty-year history of provoking regional instability in Central America. The complexity of this has included crippling Cold War policies, CIA backed coups, civil wars instigated and funded by the U.S. government, and the infamously chaotic War on Drugs. Gangs have flourished as a result of the illicit market niches created by sixty years of political-economic strife, and present levels of violence in these countries are deeply rooted in this historic trauma. Still, the U.S. continues to ignore the realities Central American youth and children are faced with as a result of its aggravating (often illegal) involvement there.
- Research overwhelmingly shows increased border militarization is an ineffective, inhumane solution for stopping migrant flows everywhere in the world. The current solution to quell youth flooding the border is a request for emergency funds from Congress. The funding would provide badly needed health and human resources for fleeing Central American youth. However, more than half of the requested $3.7 billion will fund an impressive boost in U.S. border patrols, surveillance, expedited immigration courts and anti-immigration campaigns – all proven to be inadequate controls in the long term. Completely open borders would not be sustainable without addressing root causes either. Nevertheless, two billion dollars toward creating fair-trade markets and formal employment opportunities in Central America (rather than creating more U.S. border military jobs) would be more likely to have a lasting effect on stabilizing the region.
- “Border Children” is a one-dimensional label. Perhaps necessary for categorical references, it is critical to remember that each one of these migrant youth is an individual human being. They represent diverse iden ies, experiences, resistances and courage in their individual life journeys. Their futures need to be considered valuable to our world and they must be supported as whole people with equal human rights.
The United States has yet to develop an immigration strategy that will appropriately address the interdependent forces behind what is now a worldwide phenomenon – the largest, global displacement of human beings in all of history. That’s a big statement for U.S. leadership to continue neglecting. Awareness of the tremendous underpinnings of the current border crisis is a vital first step for the American public to take. Without citizen demands for policy reforms – of both a broken immigration system and flawed model of international development – it is unlikely the entrenched roots of Central American oppression will shift within U.S. bureaucracy. The youth at the border are merely one casualty of this.

On Dec. 4, the InfoWars.com website – run by Alex Jones, a big booster of President-elect Donald Trump – posted a YouTube video led “Haiti PIZZAGATE: Death of Child Trafficking Investigator.” It falsely claimed “she had just begun investigating the correlation regarding the Clinton Foundation’s Caracol Industrial Park Complex and its connection to a human trafficking network when her life was cut short.”
“Monica spent her life challenging false narratives,” said Domina Elle, a Denver-based dominatrix who was a close friend. ”To have her death be the subject of a false narrative is very sad.”

Petersen, 32, passed away on Nov. 13, in Haiti. Claude d’Estree, the executive director of the Human Trafficking Center at the University of Denver, had employed Petersen until June as a researcher and as his assistant, after which she moved to Haiti. He said she had been teaching at private pre-kindergarten-through-12 school, Union School Haiti, mainly to support herself, and had been exploring setting up a nongovernmental organization in Haiti. He said she committed suicide but the cir stances are not clear.

They said she was not in Haiti investigating Clinton ties to human trafficking. They use a Facebook post from her friend to show she was just "critical" of Clinton in Haiti.
That same friend has another Facebook post from Monica saying she is in Haiti investigating Clinton for human trafficking.
Why is the WaPo trying to cover this up? They have been one of the loudest claiming pizzagate is fake news and then turn around and publish blatant lies concerning it.

I'm claiming that the Washington Post is lying about her not investigating Clinton ties to human trafficking in Haiti, I'm not claiming her death was tied to the Clintons. In the WaPo article Bella Robinson never says she was not in Haiti investigating human trafficking ties to the Clinton's. Her friend Elle never said that either. They don't have direct sources denying the connection, the only person saying she wasn't was her ex-boss who she hadn't worked for since last June. The screenshot of the Facebook post with Bella [last name redacted] is the same Bella [last name redacted] the WaPo links to in their article. An acquaintance named Bella Robinson, a sex worker in Rhode Island, in January had posted a blog post that Petersen had shared on Facebook that had been critical of the Clinton Foundation’s work in Haiti.

And here is where their story falls apart. The following day a blog post from Bella Robinson confirming Monica Peterson was in fact in Haiti investigating Clinton ties to human trafficking.
Bella herself is denying any connection, same as her boss. Are you even reading the full article?

(Chantal Laurent, who writes “The Haitian Blogger,” confirmed Petersen never contributed to the blog. “I never heard of her until I read the Reddit article,” she said.)
Petersen’s grieving family was hounded as #MonicaPetersen started trending and her name was added to a list of people allegedly murdered by the Clintons over the years. A faux investigator showed up at the University of Denver memorial service, asking questions and taking photographs. A comment made by d’Estree at the memorial service – that Petersen “decided to take on one of the demagogues in the field of human trafficking” – was interpreted as referring to Clinton when in fact he was talking about Siddarth Kara. Suddenly, the non-existent investigation was supposedly confirmed. Efforts to correct the record often were dismissed.
End the speculation she was killed because of the Clintons.
She does not deny Monica was there investigating links to Clinton and trafficking. Neither her nor Elle were asked that by the WaPo.

Domina Elle who is also quoted in this article told me specifically a day before Thanksgiving that Monica did not commit suicide and that she was murdered, with the details so gruesome she refused to share them with me out of respect to Monica and her family. I promised Domina Elle that I would not share the contents of my conversation with her, but seeing how she is knowingly contributing to the coverup, I owe it to Monica to release my chat log with her. Just because Monica was critical of the Clinton Foundation in January 2015 doesn't mean she was "investigating links to the Clinton Foundation" which is the basis of all of this even being a scandal with your online clan of Hardy Bois™.
