I disagree on those articles fueling a lot of this but have no problem labeling those fake news. The thought that Hillary Clinton could be linked to child trafficking was fueled by an email about Laura Silsby found before those articles/tweets came out. The fact that Hillary Clinton went in person to Haiti and helped facilitate the release of a charged child trafficker is what fueled these claims.

Monica Petersen was investigating a connection between Child-Trafficking and the Clinton Foundation in Haiti

Her cause of death has not yet been disclosed according to some sources, others say it has been ruled a suicide. Friends and family of the late journalist have been expressing their confusion on social media, implying that they are still in the dark in regards to the details of her passing. She was working with the Human Trafficking Center at the time and previously worked for the Colorado Human Trafficking Council’s Data & Research Task Force.

You won’t hear about it in sound bites of coverage on the evening news, but every American should understand these seven facts about the 63,000 kids that “showed up in the backyard” and need their plight acknowledged.

1. Illicit markets thrive where licit markets have been destroyed. Despite the façade of “free-trade” in Central America (or anywhere, for that matter), international trade is far from free flowing. Economic development policies between countries of the global North and South have favored Northern profits and the United States for decades. This has resulted in massive inequality of worldwide wealth and acute global poverty. Many Latin American economies attest to this. Where “free-trade” policies have collapsed the legal and formal markets of local economies, illicit and informal markets will fill the economic void as a necessity of human survival. Weapons, narcotics, endangered plants and wildlife, humans, and other illicitly traded commodities are advantageous to developing economies because regulated, domestic exports (such as auto parts, factory garments or agricultural crops) have been devalued to the point they are no longer compe ive on the global market. Illicit markets are the natural comparative advantage for sustaining local livelihoods, and this is apparent in the homelands of border youth and children.

1. Criminal gangs often establish the supply niches for these illicit markets. Some are highly organized and violent cartels but most are loosely based. Minors in Central American conflict zones are at a higher risk for various types of child trafficking. Youth and children trafficked for gang soldiering and/or drug mules are an increased concern in the present context. Returning minors at the border to their homelands subjects them to these risks of human trafficking. Individuals caught in repeated cycles of fleeing and trafficking are common when violence and poverty occur together, making repatriation to these regions an unsustainable solution.

1. Hasty deportations of unaccompanied Central American minors violate international children’s rights.The United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child outlines these child-specific rights and legal protections for anyone under the age of eighteen. Further, the current position of Congress and the Obama administration – to overhaul the 2008 Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act and deny fair trialsthat recognize refugee, asylee and trafficking victim statuses – is unacceptable for a nation claiming to lead the global fight against trafficking in persons.

1. The international principle of non-refoulment is being disregarded by the United States government. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees defines “non-refoulment” as the obligation of states to allow territorial access to refugees and asylees seeking safety from life threatening risks in their countries of origin. Returning border youth to do ented violence in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador is another significant U.S. violation of international law. In the modern era, “forced” and “willing migration” are almost never clearly defined categories, but U.S. immigration policies typically insist upon the later. This undermines the human rights of fleeing children – who are still owed due legal process regardless of whether they are undo ented.

1. The U.S. has a sixty-year history of provoking regional instability in Central America. The complexity of this has included crippling Cold War policies, CIA backed coups, civil wars instigated and funded by the U.S. government, and the infamously chaotic War on Drugs. Gangs have flourished as a result of the illicit market niches created by sixty years of political-economic strife, and present levels of violence in these countries are deeply rooted in this historic trauma. Still, the U.S. continues to ignore the realities Central American youth and children are faced with as a result of its aggravating (often illegal) involvement there.

1. Research overwhelmingly shows increased border militarization is an ineffective, inhumane solution for stopping migrant flows everywhere in the world. The current solution to quell youth flooding the border is a request for emergency funds from Congress. The funding would provide badly needed health and human resources for fleeing Central American youth. However, more than half of the requested $3.7 billion will fund an impressive boost in U.S. border patrols, surveillance, expedited immigration courts and anti-immigration campaigns – all proven to be inadequate controls in the long term. Completely open borders would not be sustainable without addressing root causes either. Nevertheless, two billion dollars toward creating fair-trade markets and formal employment opportunities in Central America (rather than creating more U.S. border military jobs) would be more likely to have a lasting effect on stabilizing the region.

1. “Border Children” is a one-dimensional label. Perhaps necessary for categorical references, it is critical to remember that each one of these migrant youth is an individual human being. They represent diverse iden ies, experiences, resistances and courage in their individual life journeys. Their futures need to be considered valuable to our world and they must be supported as whole people with equal human rights.

The United States has yet to develop an immigration strategy that will appropriately address the interdependent forces behind what is now a worldwide phenomenon – the largest, global displacement of human beings in all of history. That’s a big statement for U.S. leadership to continue neglecting. Awareness of the tremendous underpinnings of the current border crisis is a vital first step for the American public to take. Without citizen demands for policy reforms – of both a broken immigration system and flawed model of international development – it is unlikely the entrenched roots of Central American oppression will shift within U.S. bureaucracy. The youth at the border are merely one casualty of this.

Many pictures of them together. *Ng has ties to human trafficking through his hotels, and, was implicated bribing the UN president, who happened to be from trafficking heavy country of Antigua. *Ng is literally bringing bags of cash to the US for illegal activities, that have yet to be revealed. There is a court case for this set in Jan. in Manhattan. *FBIanon said to look into the Clinton Foundation. And this definitely shows the Clintons have at least taken money from human trafficking sources. The Macau Connection--II

MACAU--In a self-published biography, Macau businessman and legislator Chen Kai-kit brags that many international figures have paid him tribute, including President Clinton, who "presented Mr. Chen with a signed photograph."

Indeed, local reporters here say that the photograph of Mr. Chen with the president was featured prominently in television advertisements during Mr. Chen's successful 1996 campaign for a seat in the Macau legislature. In a story about the presidential encounter that appeared in the Macau Daily, Beijing's semi-official mouthpiece in the enclave, Mr. Chen was quoted as saying that Mr. Clinton was "very concerned" about Macau. Mr. Chen, who also uses the name Chio Ho Cheung, declined to make himself available for an interview for this article.


Mr. Chen's claims about his connections with the president, however, are unimpeachable. He sat at the head table with Mr. Clinton at a dinner at Washington's Sheraton Carlton Hotel on May 13, 1996. Also at the head table was Mr. Chen's business partner, Elsie Chan, a former starlet. "This is a fundraising dinner for the Democratic National Committee," notes a briefing memo for then DNC Chairman Don Fowler "The attendees are some of the top supporters of the President and the Democratic Party from the Asian-American community." A partial guest list for the event, forwarded by a Lippo Group operative to DNC fund-raiser John Huang, identified Mr. Chen and Ms. Chan as the president and managing director, respectively, of the Ang-Du International Corp. Also at the head table were Charlie Trie and Ted Sioeng, familiar names in the campaign finance scandal.


The president's ties with Macau are not merely the matter of his Little Rock friend Charlie Trie and the mysterious Ng Lap Seng, detailed in Thursday's article . There are also Mr. Chen and Ms. Chan. In addition, Wong Sing-wa, another controversial businessman, is reported to have a photograph of himself with the president--and as the photo nearby testifies, he clearly visited the White House in the company of Macau casino magnate Stanley Ho and others. For that matter, Mr. Ho's Seng Heng Bank of Macau was previously owned by a partnership between Mochtar Riady's Lippo Group and Stephens Inc. of Little Rock.
Speck of Soil

This set of connections is amazing given the obscurity of this speck of Portuguese soil set to revert to China in 1999. Across the mouth of the Pearl River from Hong Kong, Macau maintains a casino economy and is in the midst of "triad wars," with Chinese organized crime gangs fighting for control of loan-sharking, pros ution and extortion rackets. An example of local flavor: With triad gunmen fighting it out on the streets last year, Macau's senior security minister sought to reassure the jittery tourism market with the odd claim the attacks were simply the work of "professional killers who never miss their targets."


The career of Chen Kai-kit is a local success story, though one marked by controversy. His election to the 23-person legislature was marred by allegations that he benefited not only from the president's photograph, but also from the support of the 14K Triad at 1,500 Hong Kong dollars (US$195) a vote. Mr. Chen vigorously denied the stories, and a Macau government probe found no evidence to support the charges.


President Clinton's table mate at the Sheraton Carlton built his business career on the success of the Thai Palace, a "no-hands" restaurant. In such establishments, naked waitresses hand-feed patrons, leaving the hands of paying customers unen bered for other pursuits. (Pros ution is legal in Macau.) Mr. Chen is also said to have business interests in organized gambling junkets. Local triads often prey on hard-up gamblers, engaging in loan sharking, and in kidnapping and extortion when the gamblers don't pay up. Here in Macau, Mr. Chen is called "Thai Chen," for both his restaurant and his roots in Thailand. With the success of the Thai Palace, Mr. Chen expanded into other "entertainment" facilities, as well as exporting wooden doors and latex gloves. He made a fortune, his biography says, by foreseeing "a huge demand for latex gloves caused by the widespread fear of AIDS in Europe and the United States."



Ang-Du International, which Mr. Chen and Ms. Chan head, also operates in Thailand. One of its functions, local sources say, is supplying Macau with Thai women. Ms. Chan herself is a minor celebrity in the region. In 1986, she won the Miss Peace prize in the Miss Asia beauty contest. She made a mark in the Hong Kong television and film industry, and is credited with establishing a trend toward full-bodied women in the local entertainment media. After her star began to fade, she told a Hong Kong entertainment magazine, she quit the business to become a manager in an unnamed international business firm in Macau--presumably Mr. Chen's. Ms. Chan described the firm's work as mostly in fashion, tourism, cigarettes and construction material. Her specialty, she said, was "personnel." Ms. Chan's office said she was not available for an interview for this article.



Wong Sing-wa--according to local sources a partner with Mr. Chen and others in a new casino in Macau's Mandarin Hotel--operates a travel agency. In particular he issues visas for North Korea and is Pyongyang's honorary consul in Macau. Presumably he would have information on North Korea's activities here, where that nation has long maintained a presence through the Zokwang Trading Co. This would be of interest to the U.S. Secret Service, which traced large sums of remarkably high-quality counterfeit $100 bills to Zokwang accounts. Five North Koreans were arrested in conjunction with the counterfeiting here in 1994 but were released after pleading ignorance.


Earlier this month, the Lisbon-based weekly newspaper Independent protested Mr. Wong's presence in a Macau delegation to the Portuguese president. The paper cited a Macau security official, who said Mr. Wong had "no criminal record, but we have registered information that links him to organized crime and gambling in Macau." The security official added that Mr. Wong also was known to be linked to "one of the VIP rooms of the Lisboa Casino," a room allegedly controlled by the 14K Triad. Mr. Wong did not respond to the allegations, and calls by the Journal to a Macau phone number listed to him were not answered.


In 1995, Mr. Wong posed for a photograph on the doorstep of the White House with Mr. Ho, Anna Chennault (widow of Flying Tigers legend Claire Chennault), Loretta Fung (Mrs. Chennault's sister) and Yip Wai-ki. A caption on the photo says it was taken after a breakfast meeting with President Clinton. Mr. Ho donated $250,000 to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial Commission; according to a report by the MSNBC cable network, he gave his check directly to Mr. Clinton, the honorary chairman. Mr. Wong and Mr. Yip are also FDR memorial donors. Mrs. Chennault raised money for the memorial from Asians. According to the Washington Post, she said Mr. Ho gave $500,000 but asked that his name not be engraved with other donors of that amount; the executive head of the commission said she had received only $250,000.


As reported in this space yesterday, Mr. Ho, Ng Lap Seng and Chen Kai-kit have recently been named to the national Chinese People's Consultative Conference in Beijing. Mr. Ho is managing director of the Sociedade de Turismo e Diverser&otilde;es de Macau, which has held an exclusive franchise for Macau gambling since 1962, and which licenses individual casinos. The STDM dominates the local economy, supplying the Macau government about $600 million a year, or roughly half its budget. However, the STDM monopoly is to end in 2001, two years after Macau formally comes under Chinese rule.


The Macau legislature--a special body elected to serve as a "through train" past the China handover and into the twilight of the STDM franchise--will play a significant role in both events. The Communist regime in Beijing, of course, will call the final shots; but longtime observers of the scene say the reality on the southeast China coast is that corrupt local officials on both sides of the border, in league with organized crime, will carve up the pie. A local journalist predicts "one country, no system."

The current triad wars, sources speculate, are essentially about local gangs staking out territory in anticipation of the end of the STDM franchise. Mr. Chen is said to support a breakup of the STDM monopoly. "Nobody really knows where Chen Kai-kit and Wong Sing-wa get their money," says a triad "big brother," who does not think their local investments are sufficient to generate their evident wealth. "Their money is not from Macau. Chen, we know, is positioning himself for the future, for China. He wants to be the future governor of Macau."

'Special Consultant'

In 1994, Mr. Chen's ambitions got him in hot water with U.S. authorities. According to his biography, the U.S. Congress passed "Decree 101" naming him "special consultant to the U.S. Congress." The biography continues: "Mr. Min-cai Gan, envoy of the U.S. Congress came to Macau to preside over a ceremony presenting him with the letter of appointment and a U.S. national flag which was once raised at the White House; this would be the only U.S. national flag officially allowed to be raised in Macau." This, it continues, "meant that the voice of Macau could be directly heard by the U.S. Congress and could play a role in its decision-making." The biography notes that "trade issues should not be linked to human rights issues" and that Mr. Chen "wished to make arrangements for visits by important U.S. Senators and Congressmen."


Mr. Chen took out newspaper ads in Macau and Hong Kong, featuring himself in a photograph with Rep. Esteban Torres (D., Calif.). In February 1994 the U.S. Information Service in Hong Kong issued a press release authorized by Rep. Torres. It said the U.S. counsul general in Hong Kong had asked Mr. Chen "to stop identifying himself as a 'Congressional Special Advisor.' " It said that Mr. Chen had inquired about being designated a special adviser, and Rep. Torres responded that congressional rules do not permit it. It branded as unfounded any claims by Mr. Chen "to represent the U.S. Congress or the U.S. government, or to have a special status with regard to the U.S. Congress."


Two years later, Mr. Chen was dining with the president at the head table at the Sheraton Carlton Hotel, part of a series of connections between Mr. Clinton and this remote and vice-ridden enclave. By all appearances the president was seeking political contributions from Macau, but the mystery is what Macau was seeking from the president.
