Oh, I know. And watching him, it sure looks like he's being really intentional about passing up shots in favor of trying to be a playmaker. He's better at it than he was, so he's improving. And the Spurs could use another playmaker. But it's a lot harder when they can just ignore any chance of him shooting. He's GOT to start putting some of those up.

Head of the Snake with the best +/-
(+20)
Tony Allen Lite, tbh.
You like that stat?![]()
He also drained them against the Nets.
^Year round got![]()
It's his lock down defense, tbh![]()
I think we win it all with him last year, tbh.
Definitely. I'm pissed every time I see him deferring.
Shooting just seems like a mental thing with these young, un-established players..They fear the miss more than anything..Simmons shot doesn't look awkward or has a slow-release like Kyle for example..Hopefully it gets drilled into him by coaching staff to let it fly; otherwise he will end-up be in the scouting report and no teams will fall for his drive&ditch, rinse-repeat move..
+/- matters to you all of a sudden?
for the season, excluding tonight's game, tony has:
-the 9th best OBPM on the spurs (-1.5)
-the 13th best DBPM on the spurs (-2.6)
-the 12th best BPM on the spurs (-4.1)
There was a point in the game when TP was shooting FT. After a make, he reached out to Dedmon for a hand slap and Dedmon didn't do .![]()
Spurs bench looking much better than last year...Dedmon/Lee have been a huge steal: almost getting a combined 10pts/12rebs on nighly basis with great energy and intangibles work (OFF rebs, shot deflections, screenings, easy baskets through dunks off rolling)..
spurs would've been really desperate tonight without parker's 1 assist in 26 minutes
nico had 1 assist in 3.
It's
definitely mental.. even kyle with his slow ass release can take some shots... definitely not if a big is closing him out but against short wings, they won't block his shot.. more like they will foul him. Simmons doesn't have a slow ass shot like Kyle but it is still slow in NBA terms and he doesn't have a high relase and is rather short arm. I get he's got a thing he may be blocked (I remember seeing Utah Jazz's Dante Exum block a 3 of his TBH)... but we have seen that now he's not even seriously looking at the basket AT ALL.
Needs a push, some pressure. Not that you'd want him chucking as being a sniper is not his thing but has to be ready to fire if he's got a good look.
where'd TheGreatYatch go? pussy.
tony's best +/- games this season have been against: the kings, the lakers, the heat, the nets
he was in the minus against: the rockets, the bucks, the jazz, the magic, the bulls, the warriors.
