Realistically Trump will get 25% of his platform through legislation, if that. He won't get NAFTA revoked and he won't get import tariffs. He has, however changed the perception and big corps will think twice about moving jobs offshore for fear of a tweet backlash in public relations. If the democrats block vote I don't see any way they get significant tax cuts through because there will be too many republican deficit hawks wanting offsetting revenue. The same argument applies to substantially increasing the military and even 'building the wall". There are Republicans that won't vote for legislation that gives us Trillion dollar deficits. , he may very well not even get a supreme court nomination through. That's gonna take 60 votes in the Senate. We may be stuck with 8 justices for awhile until someone else dies.

Both Trash's and Repugs' budget plans increase the debt by man $Ts over 10 years.

(Repug) deficits don't matter. Cutting taxes on capitalists and BigCorp dominates kills an conern about deficits.

They'll push it through using reconciliation just like they did with the Bush tax cuts. The GOP only cared about deficits because Obama was in power, they never mattered under Bush, Bush, or Reagan.

we've had 58 elections. this was 46th on the list of biggest blowouts if you look at the electoral college

it was also the 3rd worst popular vote margin for a winner in US history

no matter how you slice it, it was a fairly close election, all things considered. that's not to say he's not the deserved winner or crap like that, but to call the election a close one is fairly accurate tbh
I didn't say it was a blowout. My original comment was more about the current state of shambles the Democrat party is in and the tactics they are using. I don't want the Dems back in power so it's fine with me if they think just crying "russians" and chanting "not my president" is all that's needed to get back power.

Republicans dominate govt at every level but sure it's really close. Stay the course Dems.

Go back and read my original comment.

but everything is fine. The Democratic Party is still on the verge of permanent one party rule.

Aristotle follows up a goalpost move with a strawman.

It's a two party system. The Democratic Party isn't going anywhere. Demographics are on the side of democrats as are the issues, quite frankly. It's not like the American people voted for a conservative agenda. Democrats ran a ty candidate. that's the extent of it.

The American people are just a little emotional right now, hence Trump. Don't worry, it's cyclical. On the issues, Anericans are progressive. Democrats have a branding issue right now. I'm confident Trump is going to work toward resolving that.

Not particularly. They don't need to. Your boy Trump is going to do all the heavy lifting.

    Branding issue.

The GOP used to say that too. The Democrats issue is (1) they were trying to push a complete piece of into the presidency and (2) they haven't done anything to counteract all the Koch money that gave the state governments to the GOP.

    (1) I already conceded. (2) possibly. Money only goes so far. People vote on emotion. Hillary outspent Trump by god knows how much.

The republican's ground game to give them the census, and thus the right to gerrymander, in 2010 was impressive. That doesn't change the fact that when it comes to the most basic of issues, Americans are generally progressive.

I respectfully disagree that Americans are progressive on the issues. The majority of them couldn't care less about racism, sexism, LBGTQ, white male privilege or whatever else ails these SJWs (gee - I've learned so many terms I'd never heard of a year ago). They care about jobs, affordable health care, their children having an equal/better life than them, comfortable retirement. It worries me that the young have an "well, what can you do about it?" at ude instead of the at ude that Morgan Freeman has in the racism thread.

You're so confident that Trump's gonna mess up? Or that his policies just don't work?

What's he going to do that is going to propel the Dems into power. Get us bogged down in a ground war, still win reelection, then preside over the greatest financial crisis since the great depression?

Waiting on the other party to fail doesn't seem like the best strategy.

People who vote Repug no matter what are too stupid to appreciate SNL.
