Why should we give a about Messi having below average height?![]()
If a midget twink is the GOAT of your "sport," it isn't a sport. Plain and simple.
Because a midget twink like Messi would get snapped in half in a real sport with actual athletes and physicality. Imagine Messi trying to play football or hockey![]()
Being short and compact improves your chances of not getting snapped in half, tbh.
Tell me more about how Messi wouldn't get destroyed in football because he's "short and compact." Messi literally looks like a Make-a-Wish kid who got to visit Texans practice in this picture, not a professional "athlete."
Mayweather is about the same height as Messi, isn't he an athlete?
Weight class based sport, though.
Of course Messi is an athlete. CN is just using soccerfan's logic of fat=unathletic against them by twisting it to short=unathletic. In pretty much every sport aside from the soccer that isn't weight class based, the short guy is usually dominated, unless you're a super-super athlete like Barry Sanders.
This goes beyond the baseball vs. soccer debate. I see this logic from soccer fans toward American Football, too. "I tried watching their 'handegg' Super Bowl and all I saw was a bunch of fat guys smashing into each other for 2 seconds and then having to take a break. Seems you don't even have to fit to play it, mate!"
This always begs the question from me: Why are European sports fans so obsessed with "stamina?"
"Because playing through fatigue is the ultimate endurance test!"
Fair enough, but soccer doesn't really push an athlete in this regard. Average soccer player might cover 7 miles in a 90 minute game. Do the math, and his average speed is 5mph, which is walking speed. Soccer's cardio demands is nothing an NFL skill position player couldn't handle.
I know damn well what Clipper Nation was trying to do, it's a lame counterargument though.
When you think of an athlete the first thing that comes to mind is a person that is fit, regardless of height. In fact, most of the athletes all around the World are on the shorter side of the spectrum.
Only in baseball and NFL linemen you find overweight "athletes" (cue in the pic of a no name Russian weight-lifter with a belly, or of an amateur soccer league subs ue keeper).
Did you not just see ITT the pictures of fat rugby props?
Did you see how fat and out of shape George Foreman was when he won the world championship? Have you seen how fat some Olympic wrestlers are?
Also, who gives a what an athlete looks like? Ronaldo is lean and shredded and completely underwhelming athletically. Size doesn't betray athletic ability. Like your favorite target Sandoval, just as fast as Messi.
the "real athletes" visiting Messi so they can get a picture with him
Most athletes are low IQ frontrunners, so not a shock they'd want the internationl publicity of getting a picture with that twink.
It's all about physics, folks. Short guys like Messi have low center of gravity, which is an advantage in soccer's abrupt changes of direction, start and stop.
Soccer players run an average 7 miles per game, some reaching 9.5 miles. Players like Arjan Robben can reach 23 miles per hour in a run( the olympic sprinter qualifying speed is something about 22 miles/hour) and some have a 3 ft vertical leap in the grass. Cristiano Ronaldo can generate a 5 g power in a jump. But most of soccer players have weak upper body because their strength need to be in the lower body and the lighter upper body lower the center of gravity.

Sorry, buddy. I know the run you're talking about and it was debunked.
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/4961/...-as-usain-boltThe winger was reported to have clocked 37 kilometres per hour (23mph) as he burned Sergio Ramos for pace during Netherlands' World Cup clash with Spain in Salvador on June 13.
However, Robben's speed has now been amended to 31km/h - and the Dutchman is not in the least bit surprised, joking that he never felt like he was in the same category as 100 metres world record holder Usain Bolt.
Yeah and fat Ruth is the goat of American cricket. So fat they named a candy bar after him
And a 5'2, 105 lbs taekwon do girl fighter can kill Le Bron and JJ Watt in less than three seconds. Maybe both at the same time. Each sport requires different body profiles.
Defending Twinktrot.
Just come out of the closet, bro. You secretly love the sport.
And Ruth is the GOAT as much as George Mikan is the GOAT.
Robben is only the 11th fastest soccer player, actually.

They amended that "record breaking run" to 31kmh, which is 19mph.
