Krsitap will never leave New York. Players don't leave a big market like LA or NYC unless they are playing with a toxic person like Kobe.

Well at least Crater got him some minutes vs Memphis in Game 3.

Bertie looks comfortable out there so I see no reason to hold him back.

“He’s not awed by anything,” Popovich said of the 24-year-old Latvian. “It doesn’t matter if it’s playoffs or not. He’s been in a lot of big games overseas, so he’s pretty much a veteran.”

I'm satisfied with Berties Game 5 Memphis performance.
14 minutes but got in early in the 1st qtr.
Never mind the 1-5, at least two of those were garbage time shot clock running out heaves after he got the ball late.
Looked comfortable, good D again as he definitely disrupts.
A couple of the foul calls looked like b.s., especially against Fat Gasol but oh well.

Yo he also drew zbo away fron the paint, which opened up driving lanes... I also saw a little bit of Splitter in him, making plays when he cut or dove. Line ups with Bertans felt more lively and active. Spurs had way better synergy and chemistry. I wad relieved and joyful.

as long as bertans is holding his own on D, he should be getting minutes. the amount of room kawhi had to operate when he was on the floor was enough of a benefit. memphis defenders were staying on him, opening up a lot of room.

barely any of his attempts were impactful, he shot a few in garbage minutes and didn't make them. he could be really important in future rounds if he earns pop's confidence

Had a good game. I think he was a difference maker even though he was off. He did provide spacing, energy and made plays on ad as well. He's a very high IQ player. Good game!

I always mentioned during the regular season when he started to get "consistent" minutes, the Spurs seemed to run motion offense (beautiful game) more often. I still would like Pop to use him like Belinelli and run him off screens. He seemed to have a lot of success from that over in Europe.

Bertans is suprising me on defense. That is a very welcome sight! If he can defend the 4 like this consistently, then I don't see why he doesn't see more time.

TBH, I'm not seeing a series where he should be glued to the bench. I think the hesitancy is that he has had some horrible turnovers in extended minutes. But his presence opens the court up on offense, and his defense, if not bruising, is at least active.

this is a player that needs to be in the roster next year but Pop needs to give him playing time, otherwise it's very hard to develop. I think he's shown more positive than negative in his reduced role lately

Davis may play international ball for the Latvian national team if permission granted from the Spurs (I suspect potential summer league commitments must be waived. I remember there was a similar issue with Nando De Colo back in the day).
    http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/s...y-11219974.php
Bertans was one of 22 players selected to Latvia’s preliminary squad for FIBA's upcoming Eurobasket compe ion, contested biannually by men’s national teams within the governing organization’s European zone. Games will be played in Finland, Israel, Romania, and Turkey from Aug. 31 to Sep. 17.

Latvia is scheduled to begin training camp on July 17 in Riga, which would conflict with Bertans’ participation in the NBA’s annual Las Vegas summer league. The Spurs reportedly have not yet given the 24-year-old their blessing to play for his country.

someone took the trouble to translate a full interview Davis gave in Latvian.
    http://www.poundingtherock.com/2017/...erview-june-12
RO: You made it to the playoffs - can you compare the play in the postseason and during the regular season, especially once you knew you'd clinched the 2nd seed.
DB: It was the same for me, I looked at each game as the same, regular season or postseason. But the difference in intensity, especially for seasoned players is clearly visible. They turn it up really fast. Shoving and punching in the paint becomes a part of the game.

RO: Were you very disappointed in the way WCF turned out or did you realize as a team that there's not much hope in beating the Warriors?
DB: We definitely expected to compete and could've won as long as everyone would've been healthy. I think the way we played in game 1 up until the Leonard injury - we had that game in our pocket. And then everything went downhill. And then game 2. Before that injury(Leonard) we felt we can win the series.

It's a cool photo. I know exactly where that is in Riga.

    Props to Davis.
