They wouldn't be getting nothing IMO..shouldn't have trouble getting a 1st round pick or high 2nd(which is essentially nothing but still ) + losing Green makes it more likely that the Spurs retain Simmons..

I don't think the risk is that great, tbh..I'd rather get something early than wait for verbal guarantees and commitments deep into free agency..
I will say, Simmons agent had a number in mind. They have probably received interest. If the contract is big enough and Spurs are at least half inclined to pay it (per J.Young) they likely had to start him at that price... no point in paying multiple bench players through the nose and Pop is so unwilling to really play small for any stretch that another coach and team doesn't force his hand....

For who? I'd only want Malik Monk in the high lottery for our needs.

I was thinking Phoenix, since they were one of the (if not THE) most aggressive compe ors for his services during his FA year.

4th pick? Would prefer Booker instead, ofc Suns would to, so let's hope Ball will fall to them.
    29+LMA+Kyle for Booker.

Sun's are high on Booker...and the fourth as a matter of fact.

I think the Kings are likely the most realistic trade partner.

Divac. He traded Cousins for scraps. There's a chance this goes down.

Divac is arguably the worst gm in the league. Fingers crossed with a pre rolled joint in hand ready to celebrate if r.c. pulls it off

This is just crazy. Spurs effectively blowing this team the F up.

However, if they were going the "not trade TP" route and can truly get good first round picks for LMA/Danny? I can see it.

You don't believe this core is built enough to beat GS. You have guys in the draft you really like. You have the 29th pick. You Pau opts out (so he can't be traded ), trade Danny/LMA for lottery picks (say #5 & #12 - wishful thinking, I know) get 3 super cheap players, 2 of which are in the lottery & then have what, damn near 60M in cap space (which coincidentally is exactly the money you need for CP3 Max & Hayward Max)

Booker sucks. High volume, low percentage gunner with zero defense. Pass.

I'm actually having a blast right now. This is fun stuff! Especially since I have no predispositions, or desires... just a knowledge of the mental weakness of a few players and the weakest one is allegedly on the block.
    yay!

Wish he could have been more, but he decided to go another path. It is what it is.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Booker sucks, but I think he is getting a ton of good attention for being the main guy on a ty team that lets him shoot whenever he wants.

If LMA is traded for a top 5 pick what's the thinking? Spurs won't be able to compete in the next few years anyways? Kawhi and cp are enough?
I have no problem trading LMA but for a future talent? Unless Spurs see a hill for kawhi scenario, I'm not loving it

As a gm I would not trade a top 10 pick for aldridge. Hard to give up the hypothetical upside of a young prospect for a beta pussy who crumbles under the slightest pressure situation.

Yeah I agree with this. As much as I want LMA off the team, what's the end game here? Why would CP3 come to a team that's been gutted and full of lottery picks, if LMA was traded for a lotto pick (and Green too). Would Gasol even re-sign if two of the starters were traded?

I mean, they would not be gutted. They will only basically lose Gasol/LMA/Danny but possibly have 3 first round picks to fill out the roster (maybe even a lottery pick or two) and damn near 60M in cap space (with keeping their own free agents cap holds).

That means you would only lose Manu/Lee (who could be resigned for min) and get to keep every other player except for LMA/Danny/Pau (and you could possibly keep him too) and have 45-60M to spend to replace LMA/Danny.

Unfortunately, they should have done it last year.
