Well, yeah -- we do vote on the names indirectly. Elected representatives and all.
Why are you so offended by simple name changes?
While we are at it, Sam Houston owned slaves. Should we change the name of Houston to Laketown?

All of statues being taken down are Confederates. Now we have the resident dimwit club trying to expand what is being taken down so as to change the narrative.
This of course is the same narrative being bandied around by alt-right media. Dimwit is as dimwit does.
Jefferson not only owned slaves, he literally ed them.
It's never been about being traitors. It's about slavery.
cost billions
maps change of addresses
updating gps devices
lots involved
Staunch unionist. Complete opposite of a traitor.
Sam Houston rebelled against Mexico not the Union. Do try and keep up.
The issue is not that they were slavers the issue was they rebelled when it came time to end slavery.
If Hillary won it would have been down already. Cinco De Mayo would have been a national holiday. Trannies would have yada yada yada too lazy to finish out this post
Luckily we whities won though and we get to hold off on the minorities and SJWs completely ruining our lives for a few years yet. Pretty relieved myself
You struggle to speak for yourself. You don't get to define your political opponents. If it was about only slavery then you would see people looking to do what you are claiming.
Instead the issue is the people that rebelled to preserve slavery. I get that nuance is tough for you but you're being pretty obtuse on this issue and showing a lack of independent thought.
When was he a traitor?
The confederate statues and place names are about sticking it to the blacks.
Billions?
You're going to have to provide some evidence it would cost billions. And if that's your only complaint, it's a decidedly weak one. Names change and maps and GPS devices are constantly updated regardless.
Lol.
Pretty fine line. They owned humans as property. Slippery slope and all that.
The Jefferson Memorial was not erected to show uppity DC blacks that whitey was still in charge, so find another Hannity talking point, Darrin.
No it's not. They are confederates. The line is the one between confederate and not confederate.
Confederates are people that rebelled when slavery was coming to an end. The KKK and similar white supremacists erected statues celebrating them in the early twentieth century. Those are the ones being taken down.
Italian Americans are better off erecting a statue of John Gotti.
lol CC and Darrin keep wanting to move the goalposts.
CC and Darrin, give us the positive reasons you want to keep all the confederate statues and place names.
why do you want to change history
You know what, Austin took all the confederate statues out of the mall at UT and I still know there was a civil war!
It's amazing.
I will go so far to say that even people in places with no confederate statues or place names at all know there was a civil war -- and that absence changes history not a whit.
It IS pretty ing white.
Lemme check Netflix real quick....
Yep, Ken Burns is still there ready to history things up!
The color of the monument? I'm not getting your point, snowflake.
Humorless little , aren't you?
And hilarious, you calling me snowflake, snowflake.
