Well done Phil. Steal 60 million and then devalue the Knicks star player to the point he's traded for spare parts after you leave.
Phil the coach was overrated. He'll go down as the highest paid psychiatrist in history, all because he could "manage big egos".

Phil the GM is just an absolute dumpster fire.

Rings aside, I think it's pretty clear cut that Pop > Phil as coach/GM. Say what you want about Pop, but he has done more with less in a small market consistently. If it weren't for Jordan/Shaq/Kobe, Phil Jackson would be just another Doc Rivers.

Incredible. Sam Presti, the guy who discovered Tony Parker, lost Kevin Durant and acquired Paul George and Melo via traded FOR

Meanwhile our drunk replaced Tim Duncan with Joffrey Leauvergne

I think the target is 2019

    http://hoopshype.com/salaries/san_antonio_spurs/

Kawhi will be 28 and a clear payroll which will determine his supporting cast during his 28-33 prime.

Hopefully KD, Bron, Cp3 and Harden have slowed enough and Kawhi can have a 2-3 year reign as the premier player. That's my hope anyway

I'd be for downgrading this year and next if it meant we could get a lottery pick or young player with good potential.
Dont be naive. The Spurs will waste Kawhi's prime in the same way they did with DRob's best years.

Kawhi wont have his Parker/Manu young versions, they were like if today-Dame and Harden play together.

When was the last time a 57th draft pick became a top 5 guard in his prime. Just Ginobili.

No one good lottery pick will give the Spurs what Parker and Manu gave...They were crazy rare exceptions.

The otherside of that is if curry or KD go down then we are right in the mix with the other top 3-4 teams and could beat them in 7
I see the goalpost was moved to 2019 lmfao. Posters will move it another year, year after year, until Kawhi is 35 and all of you will be dumbfounded.

2018 was the goal. Parker and Green were expiring, LMA had an opt out, Gasol and Mills' combined $98,000,000 weren't on the books.... RC ed it all up. No way to spin it. You're kidding yourself if you don't expect the inevitable Parker and Green gigantic extensions.

Kawhi better put on his Jordans and run to Cali. Asap. Don't sink with this anic

God the Knicks suck.  Porzingis needs to find a way out, pronto. (Preferably to SA to replace LMA!)

IT was 60th and second round All NBA last year. Was a top 5 guard last season but not perennially.

So why did the Spurs let Presti leave while keeping Drunkford? Worst personnel move in franchise history.
Yup. We've been an absolute joke of a team since he left

Also melo has a no trade clause and could only go to teams he wanted. PATFO have been trash this summer but this move is completely irrelevant to that tbh

Butler PG13 Melo...LeBron's hate and jealousy don't have limits, it seems like he sends all them to beat Kawhi.

"WTF..Kawhi was MVP candidate, DPOY, All NBA First team, and All-Star starter for 2 consecutive seasons?? Call JimmyB PG and Melo! Hype wont allow the kid to be a starter in other ASG"

melo was not good as a 1st option on a horribly run team. now he will be playing with no pressure as a third option on a well run team with good defenders. he's still one of the best catch and shoot players in the entire league and will get to do exactly that on a team that lacked shooters. and they got him for a couple of scrubs. it's a great move tbh

That's all good and well but melo has always played like a first option. He is not going to let him self be relegated to a spot up shooter

he had a no trade clause so obviously he is okay with it or he would have forced himself elsewhere. he'll still get to take lots of possessions because he's only one of three scorers on that whole team. would be the 2nd best scorer on spur roster right now tbh

Yeah no , amazing how a generational, top 10 player of all time in Tim Duncan covers your stink.
