SPRINGER DINGER!!!!!!
SPRINGER DINGER!
SPRINGER DINGER!!!!!!
Wishful thinking by Hill there on that bunt and run to first. Tbh, though, this is not a bad at-bat for him at all.
Made Verlander waste three pitches at least. Unfortunately for the Doyers Taylor went out with only three as well.
Damn, JV is on point so far.
Joe Buck still obsessed with Altuve's height.
Verlander just mows down Turner and Bellinger.
If Red really wants to shut up all the Dodger fans who hated him, this is his moment.
Wow, Roberts already panicking. He is an awful manager.
Terrible on Houston if they can't manufacture at least a run here.
Hit a salami, bregs. In a way, I'm happy "bullpen ball" is getting ed. We need to go back to starters who can throw complete games.
That's going to bite Houston in the ass so hard. Red is trash.
Manufacturing is a lost art
Verlander is in the zone right now.
If Verlander somehow throws a complete game shutout, give him the MVP on the spot.
taking Forsythe out when he's been your best hitter this series
Seriously. And he's the only one who's really made Verlander work to get him out so far. Plus, Utley is 0-29 in his last 13 playoff games. And he plays worse defense than Forsythe. How can the Dodgers' players stand playing for Roberts?
Astros better score here, because Maeda is warming up.
This feels like it's going 7. Can't squander so many chances on the road against this stacked Dodgers team and expect to win. With Red and Verlander due up, you can pretty much write off next inning for Houston too.
Agreed, but Verlander dealing like this may just be enough.
I love it. I want to see this new school approach to pitching and bullpenning fueled by analytics get blown the out. Here Morrow looked good and yet Roberts went to Watson for the matchup or because he panicked yet again after a single basehit. And here's Verlander, a single pitcher, mowing guys down and will probably go 9. Smoltz has a great point. They don't teach nor train modern pitchers to go past 6 or 7 innings and don't teach the art of long relief anymore, so when these pitchers are tasked with a bit more workload in the playoffs, they can't handle it.
Maybe the analytic calculator heads will start realizing playoff baseball is different from regular season baseball and farm teams will start better teaching pitchers to pitch short or long innings depending on the situation.
This is where the LOBs start biting Houston in the ass.
God damnit, Verlander looks shaky now.
