Texas apparently is changing the date of the big recruiting event they had planned for December.
Sumlin isn't staying. His agent going to work through the media these last few days is further proof of that. The relationship between him and the admin is shot. He's a good coach in the wrong league. People will point at his overall record and call A&M dumb for firing him, but if you have really been paying attention to the program the last six years you know it's time to move on. He's been very underwhelming post Manziel. He's 3-11 vs the SEC West since 2013 with LSU this year most likely making that 3-12. He's also 1-9 at home vs West teams the past four seasons. He recruits extremely well but player development is lacking and the abundance of freshman playing every year is proof of that.
However, I think if there is any truth to UCLA being interested in Sumlin (If Chip goes to UF), then he would be successful there. He fits in much better schematically.
As for who A&M should hire, I'm not sure. I guess they will make an enormous push for Jimbo but personally, I think whoever ends up with Frost will end up making a homerun hire. I think the administration wants to hire a more proven/experienced coach this time around though.
