i never see confederate flags out here in satx or surrounding areas. when i used to visit chattanooga, tennessee every summer as a teenager there were confederate flags everywhere and a church on every corner. it was def an experience every summer. don't miss tennessee one bit either.

i'm not much caught up on university politics(sjw, 1st am rights being shutdown, etc) but i would suggest it to be similar to the topic of confederate flags, bs white supremacists, etc... small pockets here and there being blown out of proportion to make it seem as though these groups are bigger than they are and wield more power than they might. maybe all issues are bigger than they are and i just haven't had to deal with any of them, i'm not sure.

Texas doesn't have a big Civil War history. I would think many Whites in Texas feel the same. We are the Lone Star State. We are not part of the south heritage.

So you have to have a heavy pro-confederate sympathy and association to be considered "Southern"? So basically, if the racist connotation and stereotypes isn't heavy with a Southern state, you don't consider a southern state "southern"?

You'll see the random Dixie flag in the Central part of California. Sometimes in the L.A. area, but mostly in the Riverside, San Bernardino areas. I think it's probably transplants from other regions. But it's still a tad out of place seeing it here.
