    denver nuggets
Team's in no hurry to find replacement
Spurs, Pistons officials on early list of candidates
By Adam Thompson and Marc J. Spears
    Denver Post Staff Writers

The Nuggets did not hire their last general manager until nearly four months into the 2001 offseason. In searching for Kiki Vandeweghe's replacement, the team once again feels no rush to make a decision and has set no time frame.

Owner Stan Kroenke is dealing with family business this weekend and should begin addressing the search for Vandeweghe's replacement this week.

Rumored potential candidates include: Tommy Sheppard, Washington's director of basketball operations; San Antonio assistant GM Sam Presti; Detroit vice president for basketball operations John Hammond; Utah assistant coach Scott Layden; and Mark Warkentien, the Nuggets' director of player personnel.

There's a point where a raise won't be good enough. He probably aspires to be a GM.

    *sigh*

    Hopefully he stays.

Why would Presti fell obligated to stay until Mahinmi get here?

You think Hennigan will go with him?

Unfortunately with success there is a constant drain of front office talent. Over time that takes a toll.

Tommy Sheppard, Washington's director of basketball operations.
He was the Nugget's Media relations guy before he left for the wizards. Now the Nuggets want him back. That doesn't make sense. Why didn't they think of keeping him.

There's a point where a raise won't be good enough. He probably aspires to be a GM.

    *sigh*

    Hopefully he stays.
If he wants to be a GM, he will probably got the nod because of how good the "spurs organization" is. It might be up to him.

Yes, R.C. adopted him after he held a camp in Africa. He plays for Central Catholic highschool and this kid is an absolute freak.

I am really skeptic of Buford's motives, but whatever. Last I heard, the kid was doing really well in school, and obviously on the court.

Search mysanantonio.com for the story, because there was a long article on him when he came.
