    Seems like a pretty standard lawyer response that didn't factor in the eventual selective release of snippets of the testimony. Understandable that their feelings might change.

    According to their testimony in the transcripts they requested the transcripts not be released. Simpson refused for months for a public hearing and only agreed to a close door session with no release of transcripts.

    They didn't really want the transcripts released, but they strategically pushed the "release the transcripts" narrative along with Democrats as a stealth move to... keep them from being released? What?

    your own article even indicates that the beef was Grassley was selectively releasing part of the transcripts. once they started releasing snippets to put them in a negative light, of course they want the full context revealed.

    same with the strozk (sp?) texts

    And then snippets were leaked and they decided they want the full context to be public. It's a perfectly understandable change in PR/Legal approach.

    If I own a restaurant I'm not going to volunteer all of my recipes, but if someone leaks a couple of ingredients out of context and it damages my brand, I'm releasing the entire recipe to the public.
