Is it possible to commit no crime at all, and still be factually guilty of obstructing justice for hindering an official investigation?
So a prosecutor shouldn't look for violations of the law?
This is the kind of thing I mean when I say that conservative reasoning is deeply, and provably flawed.
Instead of having a serious discussion or reasoning, the instant go-to when a question is asked to further a conversation is some sort of emotional appeal. In this case this is a type of flawed reasoning. (google "horselaugh fallacy")
Do you think that flawed reasoning is a good way to base your worldview? You use bad reasoning like this all the time.
Is it possible to commit no crime at all, and still be factually guilty of obstructing justice for hindering an official investigation?
Lying to Feds and/or conspiring with others to lie to Feds are jailable crimes.
mmmm didn't some other president get in trouble for lying under oath about something that wasn't illegal...? I seem to remember Republicans were deeply concerned about that at the time...
So why isnt Hillary in jail? Hehehe
Is it possible to commit no crime at all, and still be factually guilty of obstructing justice for hindering an official investigation?
Still waiting. This question seems to make you uncomfortable.
If you had any self-awareness, you might wonder why that is.
Just taking care of business.
I dont live on here like you do.
The question doesnt make me uncomfortable at all.
Is it possible? Sure.
Have any facts surfaced to prove obstruction? No.
Have any facts surfaced that might indicate a need to investigate whether obstruction of justice may have occurred?
They have been investigating it for a year. The question is irrelevant.
Have any facts surfaced that might indicate a need to investigate whether obstruction of justice may have occurred?
It is directly relevant to what you said. You said that the sole motivation was political, with the implication that there were no facts that came out that might indicate the need for investigation.
I called bull , and suddenly its "irrelevant"?
What facts are the special prosecutor aware of that might warrant further investigation?
You don't know, do you?
What "facts" meet the legal threshold of obstruction of justice? Firing Comey doesnt cut it.
Firing Comey in and of itself doesn't.
Are there any other facts associated with this action that have come out?
Obstruction of justice
Obstruction of justice is defined in the omnibus clause of 18 U.S.C. § 1503, which provides that "whoever . . . . corruptly or by threats or force, or by any threatening letter or communication, influences, obstructs, or impedes, or endeavors to influence, obstruct, or impede, the due administration of justice, shall be (guilty of an offense)." Persons are charged under this statute based on allegations that a defendant intended to intefere with an official proceeding, by doing things such as destroying evidence, or intefering with the duties of jurors or court officers.
A person obstructs justice when they have a specific intent to obstruct or interfere with a judicial proceeding.“If Trump exercises his power — even his lawful power — with a corrupt motive of interfering with an investigation, that’s obstruction,” says Lisa Kern Griffin, an expert on criminal law at Duke University. “The attempt is sufficient, and it seems to be a matter of public record already.”https://www.cnn.com/2017/05/12/polit...ing/index.htmlTrump says he considered 'this Russia thing' before firing FBI Director Comey
Donald Trump stated his intent. To interfere with the "Russia thing".
That is a fact, CosmicCowboy, is it not?
Eh, it was almost two years before anyone knew about Nixon's tapes.
A lot could change if Trump talks or if he pleads the fifth.
"And in fact when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said 'you know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story, it's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should have won'."
Trump won't plead the fifth. That would make him look guilty/weak.
Trump will want to answer questions posed to him to prove how innocent he is. The guy is incapable of NOT lying, and will be facing some experienced sharks who will rip into his ego, and goad him into saying something stupid and false under oath.
It will not go well for him, and his well-paid lawyers will work as hard as they can to keep their meal-ticket from it. Again, his ego will get in the way, and I give a pretty good chance he will ignore them.
It’s too ing funny watching people who are supposedly intelligent and objective floundering around trying to justify the adult version of a temper tantrum because their favorite wrestler lost the match
Just shut the up and go home, you aren’t prepared to deal with the results of opening that Pandora’s box.
What are you saying would be the results?
Give a top ten list.
Lol sock puppet
I don’t have to do anything, you’re my puppet. I post you quote and respond. Dance monkey.
OK, if you're afraid to even talk about the terrible threat of the Pandora's Box, I believe your fear.
I don't share your fear but acknowledge it.
Well, Boutons, is it? The President can fire anyone in the executive branch he wants to. Did he fire Mueller? Did he stop the investigation?
Your bias is showing. Hillary can hire a professional to bleach her hard drive after congress asks for the records and that a ok with you and not obstruction of justice because you are gonna bat blue team every time, truth be damned.
