Unless Kawhi straight-up doesn't like LMA. Then no matter how good Aldridge plays, it wouldn't be enough. Like people are assuming Kawhi places winning above everything else. People assume that with most stars. But few do.
Wasn’t LMA in Kawhi’s recent commercial? It’s not much but I doubt Kawhi would hook up someone with an easy paycheck if he hated them. Not saying they are buddy buddy either. Imho I think it’s more Kawhi and Pop not on good terms. Of course I really don’t know, but something is off with this current team.

I'd say that Kawhi would be smart to leave, but as of now, we don't even know if the guy can wipe his ing ass right now.

Exactly. Something is wrong with the team. Pop's been flailing for weeks trying to figure it out. Makes me wonder (and this is completely baseless speculation) if the reason Kawhi "has concerns about the roster" is because LMA wasn't traded.
I have different speculation... though your speculation would make sense bc the concerns about the roster gossip came out b4 the season started so it has nothing to do with any losing streaks or anything recent.

I think Pop is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I assume you don't literally mean that he's stuck somewhere right now, so care to elaborate?

Team probably should make moves, but he's sticking by his guys is what I assume she means.

but then again maybe kawhi was just attached to simmons more than we knew and he was upset they let him go. we really have no idea.

i can't think of a team kawhi would end up where he'd have the opportunity for both personal and team success that he does here

But all Pop has to do in that case is cry afterwards. Like the Spurs still treat Hill like he's some sacred son even though Georgie holds nothing on guys like Boris and Tiago. Throw Patty a party or something. They did right by giving him $50 Million. That's enough.

Again, baseless speculation. But LMA and Lillard supposedly didn't like each other, and that didn't really come out until LMA left. I just see a Kawhi in a suit not being very engaged, and it sort of suggests that the rumors could have real legs. LMA signed his deal four days after the first Kawhi rumors came out, so they were probably being discussed when the report occurred. Then you have the Spurs being surprisingly decent despite Kawhi being out and LMA (rightfully) getting most of the credit. Then you have Kawhi potentially disagreeing with the team on how healthy he is and wanting to be sat EVEN MORE than Pop wants.

LMA joked that he didn't know what Kawhi sounded like because they hadn't spoken to each other. And they pretty much have no chemistry on the court.

Again, not really saying this is true. I obviously hope not. But Leonard is not Duncan. He's just not. He's much closer to Derrick Rose in terms of temperament. Without the gangbanger .
Yours are just observations based on real facts, things that have happened. It's tough to infer anything with kawhi bc he's expresionless most of the time, but he's also very aloof and difficult to bond with. and Lamarcus appears to be similarly reserved (although not autistic... not that I am saying Kiwi is but you know what I refer to). Think RC has played tough ball with guys too. I am sure they are having doubts about the supermax if Kiwi isn't healthy. Which if I am Kawhi I am upset about not just bc of the injury mismanagement but bc they had no problem paying up old has beens.

There is many reasons for that relationship to be challenging b4 one even considers LMA and Kiwi not having much on court chemistry.

I'm with you here, but I think this FO thinks this roster has a shot if Kawhi comes back so they're sticking with the status quo.

If the Spurs actually believe they have a shot at Lebron, would they make any trades in the upcoming deadline? If they actually believe that, I just don't see them making any moves right now that would hinder their ability to create cap space. Trading away players right now for cap space would be ing weird right?

And I think they might have a shot if guys start playing up to their potential for more than a game (or quarter) at a time. But if there is something going on in the locker room, I kind of doubt that Kawhi being healthy will alleviate it. The Spurs more than any other team can't afford chemistry problems.

I don't mind this loss, tbh..it was extremely fluky with Rubio having the best game of his career + horrendous officiating, but more importantly, losses like these are the only way the FO might get a reality check..they can't use the Fool's Gold 3rd seed as validation..

I assume you don't literally mean that he's stuck somewhere right now, so care to elaborate?
I already gave some away in another reply but it's mostly two things:
    1. I am speculating that at the very least they have reservations about the supermax until Kiwi is fully healthy. It just makes sense. I don't think they would have a problem doing what they must even if the contract will place them in a very difficult position (as you stated in another thread you know)... bc that is the reality of the market is what it is, he is worth what he's worth if healthy and they will have to streamline and get rid of whomever to fit him in. But if he's not healthy and things don't look good that will push the pause button. I remember way back that Kiwi's agent blew smoke the season he was due for an extension and he didn't get it. He gave some nasty interviews to the media to put pressure on the Spurs. I am sure they explained the plan they had to add talent the following season but Kiwi's camp was still upset. It's naive to assume there aren't any money issues here and the implications his injury have on that. That in itself is making things very complicated and the relationship "challenging" and there have been leaks which is unusual for the Spurs... we can spin this however we want to...

    2. the other point is a lot more far fetched. The rock and the hard place is that the Spurs need to make some tough choices with the roster and perhaps part with some beloved players. or bench guys they don't want to, or just shake things up in a way that Pop doesn't want to. They have already done some things like bench Tony, but that isn't enough. I have seen Hilliard getting called up, Pop is now starting DAvis, etc. He's looking for roster shakeups without a trade and maybe a trade is needed. I don't think they want to trade, they probably think if Kiwi and Rudy were healthy it solves their problems which is why I think they want to stand pat, but Pop is losing patience out there, and something is not alright with the locker room either...

I'd trade Aldridge for him and take on biyombo contact for them too. He is a defensive big that rebounds and blocks shots.

If we want to get greedy throw KA and Forbes in to get hezonja too
