Dh, his co-worker and his neighbor went to gun show last Saturday - very crowded. All this banning talk just drives out the customers and hikes up the prices.
Good. We want idiots to pay higher prices for their guns.
Exactly, as if BigFinance gives the tiniest about anything but more money
Thinking gun owners = NRA is like thinking automobile owners = AAA
I've never belonged to the NRA, don't know anyone who does. It's a heritage foundation for wealthy white men.
That would make sense if AAA was paying out millions to politicians to have them get rid of seat belts in cars.
Yeah that was a bad analogy by Sir DMC.
Gun nuts sure get pissed when people mistake clip for magazine, automatic for semiautomatic, etc... but love to put the "ban" word in people's mouths when it was never said.
Regardless what they do as an organization, it still doesn't equate to gun owners.
Still
AAA
Driving is a reality in this country, and all auto clubs support the use and enjoyment of vehicle ownership. But, we think it is rather "interesting" that AAA:
Has denied that automobiles cause air pollution...
(Source: AAA: Automobiles not Responsible for Pollution: Cleaning the Air Study 1999)
As reported by the Environmental News Service in September, 1999: "'Federal regulators should refocus efforts to cut air pollution away from automobiles,' the motorists' advocacy group AAA said today." Clearing the Air - 1999, is the third such study performed by AAA.
Has, without informing their members of their policy efforts, weighed in on highway funding, suburban sprawl, mass transit, car design and safety, air pollution, and global warming.
(Source: The Amicus Journal: Winter 2001: Feature Story: The Secret Life of AAA)
Because, using its members as collateral, AAA, its local affiliates, and its partners work to influence national law and policy, and not to the good of the planet. Almost without exception, critics say, it advocates policies that damage the environment and endanger health.
"A lot of people belong to AAA because they think it's a nice place to get Triptiks and traveler's checks," says Daniel Becker, director of Sierra Club's global warming and energy program. "What they don't know is that AAA is a lobbyist for more roads, more pollution, and more gas guzzling."
Has been challenged by Environmentalists on many of their claims and conclusions.
Daniel Becker, director of the Sierra Club's global warming and energy program said in a statement: "It sounds like AAA has been breathing too much smog. A third of the nation's smog and 20 percent of the nation's global warming pollution spew out of America's tailpipes. With asthmatic children being hospitalized at an ever increasing rate, it is foolhardy and callous for AAA to imply that now is the time to let up on auto pollution."
The EPA did not challenge AAA's numbers, but a spokesman for the agency said the group's conclusions may be "shortsighted." The agency is committed to reducing emissions from all sources, according to EPA spokesman Dave Cohen. "This is not a contest," Cohen said. "Letting motor vehicles off the hook for their past performance is not a useful way of combating air pollution."
Actively Opposes Bicycle Lanes and fought against bicycle safety regulations for years...
So yeah, they sound very similar.
Legislation either allows or bans.
Example: Magazine capacity regulation = ban on the manufacture of high capacity magazines (but not the sale of existing ones)
The same happens with censorship. When someone's words are muted, they say that free speech is banned.
Also, terminology matters when writers decide to focus on technical aspects of a device. Otherwise I can say the gun wasn't loaded when what I mean is that there wasn't a round chambered. Two technical terms, but unloaded would mean it doesn't have ammo in the gun at all.
Again, people get bogged down by facts but they still get bent out of shape by the misconception surrounding these facts.
And the term "gun nuts" is being applied to anyone who owns a firearm it seems. It's just a convenient way to stay ignorant. It's like saying "basketball nuts" because you know the difference between a travel and a 3 second violation.
lol The ST Patriot militia wants to bog down the conversation with more definitions.
God these gots just gave Ajit Pai the courage under fire award for being a lapdog for the cable providers.
But they're about protecting gun rights.
Norton, True Car, Hertz Avis, are all out now.
Direct deposit to Clinton Foundation![]()
Is that why the NRA is under investigation?![]()
Is that why the Clintons are under investigation?![]()
Actually no. Now answer the question.
What's going to happen to the NRA besides 500,000+ new subscribers?![]()
I guess if Hertz is gonna get political, I'll take my money elsewhere - Uber is sounding better and better.
