It's not all that important if Kawhi means it. He just had to say it publicly. Kawhi just wanting out is a bridge the team could cross this summer. Kawhi wanting out so badly that he'd refuse to play for a season is not. Leonard coming back boosts his value and the team's chances of making noise in the playoffs. If he refuses the extension then the team won't have to wonder anymore and can deal a healthyish Leonard for a better package.

    Fake le.

Finish his career as a Spur =/= Spur for life
To be fair, it would be pretty weird to say, "I plan to play here for a little while, then leave for a significant portion of my career, but then return here for the tail end of my career" because that technically still counts as "finishing my career here."

I'm glad he came out and spoke. However, I think it's way to late. He should have addressed this awhile back. I think a lot of drama/damage could've been avoided if he had just spoken to the media about it sooner. Oh well. What's done is done. Gotta continue to try and move forward.

    Awesome to hear.

And can the re s can the "tank this season" thread. It's too late and it's the NBA Draft. We'll end up with a worthless mid 1st pick that Pop won't utilize, have a couple of highlights and go off on a few games. These same idiots will get their pussies moist for the guy, praise him up as the "future" and then riot when he isn't re-signed after his lackluster first 3 seasons and then and moan and then try and rub it in everyone's faces when he has over stated stats on ty efficiency on a ty team.

Yup. That's probably what's going to happen, tbh.

Speaking of gathering no moss, Pop needs to shave that bleeping beard.

Pop has coached five les, none of them with that beard.

Come on Pop, nothing else you've tried has worked.

Hope he isn't following LeBron footsteps, because that still fits into what he said

He grew it to distract from his obvious hair transplants. Same as LeBron.

A few things that stood out:

    1. Kawhi straight up said there was no rift. He not only said that but said that he and Pop speak every day and that everyone knew what he was doing the entire time. That is by far the biggest news. That was probably the single biggest rumor from Woj was the “chilling relationship” and Kawhi sort of blew that up.

    2. He was the most candid/open with regards to his teammates. He said he appreciated having these teammates and their support for his injury and how hard they have been fighting

    3. He said he wants to finish his career with the Spurs. It was just a mundane response and canned, but good to hear. But that is why it’s third. The first two things stood out way more.

The optics were already bad, he needed to speak and this helped everyone.

Longest clip of his interview I've seen (could have missed some posting though)

Have to say that "Yeah, sure" answer to the leading question of "Do you want to finish your career as a Spur?" Really isn't anything to get too excited about. But we'll take baby steps.

Physically, he looks a little heavy. But how can he not be? We're lucky he doesn't look like Barkley.

    I love Spurs fans.

Fans: He needs to speak. He needs to tell his side, etc...

He addresses the media and ...

Fans: He’s lying, it’s a PR move, Pop forcing his camp into action.

ST is consistent if nothing else.

In his defense, when you hear Kawhi speak you can understand why he doesn't do it more.

Is he reading from a telepropmter?
    That would be a stretch.

The questions sucked and were easy..That was an easy question to answer..

They should’ve asked Kawhi what he thought about the “rumors” of him wanting out of SA etc and then you have follow up questions..force him to be specific or give details and if he refuses or gets frustrated then you have your answer.

Yeah they didn't ask him about the "rumors" of "two shots chants" origin and Buford drinking. I would ask him about the Spurs playoff appearence chances.

it's always struck me that there are obviously a number of "fans" that are just blatant troll accounts from fans of other franchises.

then there are some obvious posters who have real mental issues.

You gotta weed out 95% of ST to get some takes.
