The West has a simple view.

Russia is not a democracy and has been run by a lying thug of a dictator who continues to prove that he cannot be trusted and will continue to keep the Russian people close to a 3rd world economy.
    Yeah, that sums it up.

Worst case scenario: US launches massive cruise missile strike on all Syria. Russia has 2 options: cut and run or launch atactical nuclear strike to obliterate US fleet

IMO negotiations are going on right now to avoid that scenario.

More likely: US will launch a medium level strike on Syria on random areas to save face. Russia will allow them to do it while countering with electronic jamming and attempting to shoot US cruise missiles down with S400

Things are still hairy at this point
Better than your normal posts. Worst case though, is airstrikes using manned planes that come into contact with AAA or SAMs. Downed US airmen captured and tortured, would escalate things quickly.

This is the best test to date for my theory about Russia having something on Trump.

If Trump attacks, whatever that is, will come out.

    mein neger Farrage on Syria/Etc...

Maybe you can tell me what "research" requires 15 TONS of nerve agent in the middle of a civil war?

    - Syria told inspectors in 2014-2015 that it had used 15 tonnes of nerve gas and 70 tonnes of sulphur mus for research. Reuters has learned that inspectors believe those amounts are not “scientifically credible.” Only a fraction would be needed for research, two sources involved in inspections in Syria said.

AP reporting that Russia is blaming Britain for staging the alleged chemical attack.

It's like the script writers from the WWE are now in charge of current events around the world.
Haha agree but Syrian army did capture about half dozen Brittish special forces a few days ago while liberating Ghouta

Looks like Syrian army and Russia is trying to get information from these guys. Who knows they could even have been there to help plant a false flag

There is probably a lot of truth to these rumors as that is why UK is rabid at Russia

Damn ma niga Lavrov going raw

Lavrov cited “irrefutable data that [this] was yet another staged event and staging was done … by the special services of one of the countries at the forefront of the anti-Russia campaign.

“We have irrefutable evidence that this was another staged event, and that the secret services of a certain state that is now at the forefront of a Russophobic campaign was involved in this staged event,” he said during a press conference.

He must be talking about those Brittish officers

Easy to predict these things if your ally is doing them and telling you about it.

Jeffrey Sachs on Obama's War in Syria

Sachs explain the American tragedy of the Syrian civil war (A covert war authorized and started by Obama) and why the only answer now is to get out and negotiate an end to the war.

    What is Timber Sycamore?

    Way to go, Obama.
Who knew Hope and Change would mean leading us to the brink of WWIII?

This is a lot closer to that than I have seen in my adult lifetime.

Carrier group re-deploying to the Mediterranean.

NORFOLK, Va. — The carrier Harry S. Truman and her strike group left Norfolk April 11, just a year and nine months after returning from a record-setting deployment fighting ISIS in the Middle East.

She'll most likely be in the fight once again over the next few months as her regularly scheduled deployment takes the carrier, six surface ships, eight aviation squadrons and a total of 6,500 sailors to the operating areas of 5th and 6th Fleets.

Also departing Norfolk was the cruiser Normandy, and the destroyers Arleigh Burke, Bulkeley, Forrest Sherman and Farragut.

The Sachsen-class German frigate FGS Hessen will operate as part of the strike group during the first half of the deployment, and the guided-missile destroyers Jason Dunham and The Sullivans are slated to join the strike group at a future date.

The word "routine" here denotes it was planned, probably before the current events in Syria. These groups don't turn on a dime, so that seems likely. However it will place the group in position to strike Syria.

The Russian Navy is reportedly scheduled to launch firing drills off the coast of Syria on Wednesday amid fears of an imminent U.S. airstrike against Syria following a suspected chemical attack.

Russia’s ambassador to Lebanon said the Russian military would shoot down U.S. missiles and target launch sites if the U.S. attacked Syria on Wednesday. U.S. President Donald Trump later directly warned Russia that missiles were “coming” to Syria after blaming Damascus for an alleged deadly gas attack in the town of Douma.

Together with indications that the ships they do have in the area are getting out of port:
Satellite images show the Russian warships deserting a base at the major port of Tartus on Syria's Mediterranean coast

    By Bradley Jolly
(edit) Getting them out of port means that they can deliver on their threat to strike at any US Navy ships launching missiles.(/edit)

Russian naval activity in Europe exceeds Cold War levels: U.S. admiral
BERLIN (Reuters) - Recent Russian naval activity in Europe exceeds levels seen during the Cold War, a top U.S. and NATO military officer said, voicing concern that the distributed nature of the deployments could end up “splitting and distracting” the transatlantic alliance.

There is some serious posturing going on. I'm sure the balance of tonnage and firepower will be in the US' favor, once the Truman's group arrives, and this concurs with that assessment:
    https://ahvalnews.com/syria/latest-s...-mediterranean

Both sides are moving in and preparing for something.

Hannity of course fails to mention this deployment was routine and planned a while back, pumping up the "Trump takes decisive action" schtick.

Trump will simply use available forces for whatever he plans. No special deployments appear in the offing, either from the US, nor from France/UK at this point.

Were I to guess, this is bluster and, albeit rather alarming, saber-rattling.

    (edit)
Putin's chiefs have probably told him his forces can't compete with that of the US. If push comes to shove, the Russians cave. They are acting to defend mass murder by chemical weapons.

All this doesn't preclude the Russians picking a cyber attack response, which has been suggested in UK parliament as the appropriate thing to do to Syria.

If Trump launches a military response, I judge this as the most likely Russian counter, other than the missile defenses, which will likely be overwhelmed and underperform, much to the Russian's dismay and embarrassment, given how badly they want to sell this system at arms shows.
