I don't know how you exonerate someone who isn't the subject of an investigation.
    Ask Trump that then.

For someone who wasn't being directly investigated and for someone who keeps saying no collusion, nothing to hide. He has acted like the dirtiest criminal ever.

Simply put, a truly innocent man wouldn't go through possibly breaking the law (a la Nixon) to prove how innocent he isn't.

Not a lawyer here but I'm pretty sure you cant fire someone investigating you because they refuse to exonerate you in the middle of said investigation. And neither do you Darrin.

We'll let Mueller decide this. It sure looks like corrupt intent to me.

You know, aside from changing the cause of the firing from: It was because he was too mean to Hillary to I fired Comey because of the Russia thingy to I fired Comey but it wasn't because of the Russia investigation to now, I fired him because he wouldn't clear me.

    Jesus Christ.
This is the hill Darrin has chosen to die on.

Sorry. His own lawyer said it. Then the WH before said they fired him because he was too mean to Hillary. Lol. Then Trump told the Russians in the WH that firing Comey took pressure off.

    Here's the actual quote

“He fired Comey because Comey would not, among other things, say that he wasn’t a target of the investigation,”

But in the Comey dismissal letter Trump said Comey did tell him he was not under investigation "3 times."

So which is it? Although you told me I was not under investigation, I will still say you didn't tell me and so that's why I fired you?

    Level with me Darrin.

Yeah you are dumb. That quote strengthens the obstruction case.

Mueller cant bring criminal charges. He can just give fodder for impeachment.
Mueller cannot, if my understanding correct.

Other prosecutors, state or federal, are not similarly restricted. The issue will almost certainly end up at SCOTUS.

Given the overall level of sloppy shadiness of the Trump Organization, it seems likely that a competent investigation will uncover whatever illegalities have taken place, including money laundering.

Nah. There’s a difference between “i want you to publicly announce what you just told me in private” and “i want you stop stop this investigation of me or you’re fired”

the quote you’re talking about is more like the first one

[Trump] could fire Comey for any reason.
Intent matters when it comes to obstruction of justice. I would show you the laws, but you are too dumb to read them and understand. Pearls before swine.

He's not under any obligation to do so. In fact, it might even hurt the investigation in the long run by throwing that out to the public. What if Trump does become the target later? It would be an embarrassment to the FBI and Trump himself.

BTW back then, he wasn't even a subject of the investigation. Now he is. Things change.

Let me throw this back at you now.

Why didn't Comey make public the fact the Trump campaign was being investigated and at the same time they have not only said they were investigating Hillary but also made a press conference where Comey all over her?

Comey passed that request to the ADAG regarding publicly announcing and he didn't hear back. Oh well, it's do ented.

Also last month Trump claimed his firing had nothing to do with the Russia probe. Plenty of different stories.

    "But Giuliani’s other admission —

delivered during his interview with Sean Hannity on Wednesday night —

may be more important and damning. Giuliani conceded in an offhand way that Trump fired FBI Director James

    B. Comey because Comey failed to do Trump’s bidding and

publicly declare that Trump was not under investigation.

    Here’s what Giuliani said:

“He fired Comey because Comey would not, among other things, say that he wasn’t a target of the investigation,” Giuliani said.

    “He’s en led to that.

Hillary Clinton got that, and he couldn’t get that.

So he fired him, and he said, ‘I’m free of this guy.'”

Mueller Reportedly Considering Appropriate Thank-You Gift for Giuliani

WASHINGTON —The special counsel, Robert Mueller, is actively considering what would be the most appropriate thank-you gift to send to the former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani, a source close to Mueller’s team has confirmed.

According to the source, Mueller and his team were behind closed doors on Thursday morning to discuss the gift and appear to be close to a decision.

“They’ve been around and around on this, but a consensus seems to be forming on a bottle of single-malt Scotch,” the source said.

Moments after the news of Mueller’s gift to Giuliani leaked, however,

Michael Avenatti, Stormy Daniels’s lawyer, indicated that he had already sent Giuliani a single-malt Scotch on Thursday morning and

advised Mueller to select an alternative gift, such as Dom Pérignon champagne or beluga caviar.

    Responding to Avenatti’s comments,

federal prosecutors investigating Michael Cohen issued a statement asserting that

they had, in fact, sent Giuliani an entire case of champagne last night,

which would appear to leave caviar as Mueller’s only remaining gift option.

The source close to Mueller said that,

no matter what gift the special counsel ultimately chooses, it will be an inadequate token of gra ude.

“You can’t put a price tag on what Rudy has done for Bob,”

    the source said.
