As opposed to refusing to play for a playoff team and looking to go to a superteam in a big market?
Bigger market? Could be since his camp didn't get the supermax. But superteam??? Where's that superteam?

Neither of these will send top picks for a one year rental. Players get their wish about where to go, especially stars. He'll lose money though, that's for sure.
1-Sacramento and Suns GMs are that stupid to believe they can convince Kawhi to stay after one year.

2-Cousins wanted to go to NO? PG13 to OKC? No.

    Yet.
    Nah.

    It's not july yet.

Would be great to think so but it's a naive hope at best.Besides, how could they be sure he won't fake another injury and not play at all? Once a snake always a snake.

2-Cousins wanted to go to NO? PG13 to OKC? No.
Of course they didn't, but Sac and Indiana got 30 cents on the $ in these trades. Sure, Oladipo had a great season but at the time of the deal he was an average overpaid player.

It doesn't change the fact that players don't go or sign wherever they want/wish like you say.

Anyway..I tend to doubt about fans' narratives when it's only one side's fault.

Kawhi's camp is very unprofessional but if we can't admit the Spurs could manage this better...We're blind.

His camp are stupid greedy newbies but I expected more from the Spurs,

The team could try to appease things instead of burning all during the regular season.

I get they got frustrated but they're the best sport organization in world, they shouldn't let frustration make them say the wrong things or make mistakes in public.

Also, we can't act like Young is he only media guy saying these things.

I guess this is the part of Pop about old school way, who knows but it seems like he should adapt at least a bit to these new times...

At the end of the day it reminds Spurs fans that there will always be only one Tim Duncan. He was the ultimate teammate and was never jealous of the success of his teammates. Pop was in tears at Tim’s retirement because he knew would never be the same.

    So...
    1. Sit one year for "not feeling right"
    2. Stay silent, don't communicate, let teammates and franchise in the dark about return affecting their season and bringing drama on the spurs.
    3. Still take the 20 millions.
    4. Ultimately wants to be traded

Is this the biggest mother er in NBA history ?

Everybody, including me, got it all wrong about this guy. Huge A-hole.
He already ruined his reputation among fans and players with his at ude this season but now he'll be a bag for everybody.

People respect the spurs around the league. They're kind of the morale caution, the franchise people turn to say it's not all about egoism and cash. The team that gives everybody good consciousness. And everyone loves Pop.

Kawhi will be the guy that and try to abuse him and them.

Don't trade him, sit him and make him lose another year of his prime... "DNP Not feeling Right".

There will be a lot of important moves this year and next year will be less interesting for him after all the the major teams will have signed their big dogs...

    Make him pay.
I trust Pop. You don't him and the spurs.
Yeah they should definitely suspend him for the season if he threatens to not sign elsewhere thus torpedoing the Spurs chance to get what they're looking for in trade. It's not like that piece of 's agent is anyone to worry about pissing off since no one else is represented by him.

They'll need to either dump Ball or stretch Deng to open up a second max slot.
They already have money for two Max's. They could package Lonzo and Deng together to open up even more room.

Ha. I'd forgotten about that. Spot on. Buffoonery abounds.
a top 5 player wanting the supermax is too much to ask for?? wtf?

This is a global league. Lebron, KD, Russ, Lillard, Davis and plenty of other stars do just fine on endorsements. Kawhi doesn't get a lot because he either doesn't want them or can't execute them. Stars get their ad money off big brands, not local endorsements. Markets have nothing do to with it, which is why you don't see a bunch of guys taking discounts to go play in NY, Brooklyn or the LA teams.
Knowing how Magic & Jeanie do business, I wouldn't put it past them to offer a small stake in the organization and other investment opportunities to make up the money lost.

Yeah, Kawhi’s personality keeps him from being marketable. I mean HEB can use comic relief to portray him as a dumb mute, but that doesn’t work for Nike.

Once you factor in cap holds they'd have to shed roughly $3 million in salary to open up a max slot for Paul George after signing LeBron to a max deal, with their only players under contract being Deng, Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, and Hart. They have team options they'd have to decline on everyone else on the roster. If they're going for CP3 after signing LeBron they'd need to shed about $8 million in salary.

Pop should get some blame here for his role in creating this mess. The organization made a conscious choice to alienate their star player and now we are faced with losing one of the best players in the league. I’m not saying Kawhi doesn’t deserve some blame but this is a stars league so you do what’s necessary to keep them happy.

Also, those of you attributing Kawhi’s silence to some mental issue is way off base.. Kawhi seems pretty smart to me and I do think he was hurt by some of the comments made. Put yourself in his shoes. How would you feel if Pop didn’t believe you were injured especially after seeing you put in work all these years.

If the Spurs somehow get Michael Porter out of this, it could all work out for the best.

Honestly at this point I just think there's too big of a generational difference between Pop and his players. Being 70 years old and trying to work with a 26 year old. I can't even ing imagine. Pop is an old school guy and Kawhi (despite all of our hopes of him being Tim Duncan 2.0) is not.

Pops only mistake was trusting that winning was important to drama queens. If Kawhi wants to play in LA, fine. But don’t make up some dumb excuse about the Spurs betraying you and making you feel you have to go. That’s some BS.

According to Twitters, this got Jabari referred to Kawhi and his group as "we" in an interview with Greg Anthony.

    Can anyone confirm?
