Without Kawhi, Pops is the only reason why anyone would want to play for Spurs imo
The Spurs need to know where they stand with their franchise player - is this a relationship that is salvageable for the long-term or is all the smoke for real and they need to focus on trading him? They need to know as soon as possible given free agency kicks off soon.

Yes, baseline bum, I think, covered that. In order to make it work, they had to trick the Spurs into trading Leonard this summer for a deal that included Luol Deng’s contract. Probably Ingram, Kuzma, #25, and Deng.

I would be hyped by this trade. There's no other team offering a prospect with unlimited ceiling + 2 starters that make the team better.
For Philly the decision is easy as well, Brown is one PO series loss away from being fired, Philly won't settle for being "ok" and his ass is on the line. Plus Kiwi is the perfect autist to play with huge egos like Embiid and Simmons.

I don't understand why it seemed like they were so down on Fultz. In the games I saw him play he looked pretty impressive. I thought he could have helped the team being played in the playoffs.
agreed but, unfortunately, i think free agency (including any leonard moves) is going to be held hostage by the lebron situation.

Now that the Spurs have made it clear they aren't participating in creating a Laker superteam, and are dangling some portion of the supermax perhaps things are changing. Regardless, this franchise is worth more with Leonard under contract than without, you're looking at another squeak into the playoffs season without him and does Pop want to coach a rebuild situation or does he think he's making progress with putting that relationship back together?
It's a business. At some point perhaps soon the divorcing Holts are going to sell. This will impact the value of their interest.

They have Fultz, Saric, Simmons, Covington, Zhaire Smith, and unprotected 2021 Miami first. Any two of those is better than Boston's dog offer, and gets Ainge off the dime.
Brown is better prospect than any but simmons who probably isn't even on the table. and they have better picks including one next year much better than some mediocre late 1st round useless pick 3 years later that the post-PATFO regime would use to draft another undersized guard
I don’t see a path to SA and Kawhi making up. I hope Kawhi signs some extension with SA that way SA can keep him or get more value with an understanding that he will be moved if signed as long as his camp expands their list of teams.
Waiting until after July 7th other than it killing your own free agency plans is wise because LA may lose a ton of leverage depending on what they do.

If he’s paid he has no incentive to act that way. Also if he’s paid SA has total control over trading him and they will get a haul since he can’t walk from the new team
