OTOH, they already have enough waste teams like Saudi, Poland, Tunisia, etc, as it is with 32 teams..

Yeah. I don't see the point of that though. If Argentina gets into the second round, Argentina and Croatia will go on opposite brackets. Why would the Croats want Argentina out? Just to give France an easier opponent on the round of 16? Croatia now knows that they don't need to fear Argentina, it might be better for them to have Argentina knocking out teams like France and Brazil in the unlikely scenario that both, Croatia and Argentina, make it to the final.

The goal difference is what matters tbh. With Iceland still with chances and Argentina being easily able to lose 0-5 against Nigeria, they’re not mathematically a lock for the #1 slot. They’ll rest some players but keep them around if they need to sub them in the 2nd half

Australia-Peru is really tough to call. On paper they are really evenly matched. But seeing how things played out on this WC, Australia might be slight favourites.

They could, Iceland actually finished ahead of Croatia on the qualifiers. The thing with Iceland is that they play better when they are underdogs and can sit on the back and play on the counter. When they need to go for it since the beginning, they struggle.

Chuck it on Australia, they've played so well both games, can't finish for but have created that many opportunities against Denmark & France.
