Exactly. If the market isn't there for him right now, it's just not there. You can't force teams to just give up known quan ies, and it's not worth trading him for garbage or future roadblocks just for the sake of moving him.
Make him come to camp, show he is healthy, and commit to going somewhere else now that it looks more and more likely that the Lakers are going to their pants.

The year rental always mentioned on Kawhi or if he resigns is really not important if that deal hinges on Lebron coming. If Lebron is a possibility, I don't see that they don't want to budge on 2 players being Saric and Fultz, they would hesitate like this if the Spurs are asking for Simmons which I expect they are. A offer of Kuzma/Ingram/Hart/Picks has more upside than Saric and some other player + the picks. Wasn't pop looking for a top 20 player as a piece to do a deal?
The players mentioned in those random tweets rank much lower than even the Lakers pieces, so its gotta be Simmons they are pushing for. Kawhi has already proven as being one of the best 2 way players and reached his potential. Simmons will be great but Kawhi is already there who has a shot, is a elite defender and would pair with Lebron beautifully. If Kawhi is willing to commit, I don't see why people should laugh at the thought that Simmons should be dealt for him. Would they trade Simmons if they could get Lebron/KD/AD or players on that level? Kawhi had us up 20+ against one of the biggest superteams formed before he got Zaza'd.
