Spurs are handling this exactly the right way. Thank God you're not an NBA GM.

The Spurs have all the leverage. The pressure is on the Lakers to fill their roster now and compete for a le now. They will have to use all their available cap space. How are they going to sign KL as a free agent in 2019 with no cap space? They can't. The only way they can lock up KL is to pretty much give the Spurs anything they want. Quite honestly, they probably don't have enough to entice the Spurs to trade KL.

KL most likely stays with the Spurs now. Keep in mind the Spurs have not yet offered KL the supermax extension. Once that money is on the table, this whole scenario changes dramatically.

I'm glad LBJ is going to the Lakers. Now he and his entourage will expect to be in charge of their roster construction and team moves. Not to mention the clown show that Lavar Ball will create and LBJ would have to deal with. I can't wait for Lavar to leak out all the locker room details. No way they work well together.

spur fan thinking Lakers aren't going to sign 1 year deals to force Spur to take weaker haul

    it's already happening...

No, the front Office moved too slow. They were not even seriously looking to trade Leonard. What offers did the spurs put out there that were turned down? they may have mentioned a player or two they might have interest in but no real offers were made to any team. i even saw that they were only listening to other teams offers but not really ready to trade Leonard. They dragged their feet and got nothing done.
    Better to get nothing done

Spurs were never going to get something good after Kawhi quit on the season, that's why everything is a lowball. Better to spite Kawhi than move him anywhere for non difference makers.

Fat boy left the Spurs off his list

Does someone want to tell him that the Spurs this coming season, if Kawhi plays, are better than the Lakers?

Such is the nba man. Which is why I have said since late 2000s once manu goes there are no more true players in the league.

Think y’all are underrating how much Lebron hates adding to his Finals’ loss column tbh. With the way we judge pro athletes these days, it’s better to lose in the Conference Finals than in the NBA finals. And LeBron wasn’t getting this Warriors team anytime soon anyways. Might as well live in LA and enjoy all the perks that come with it, as opposed to living in that hole Cleveland and getting swept in the finals every year.
Also the fact that the majority of Lebron hate and criticism comes from Laker fans. Two birds with one stone.

Also Spurs have all the leverage here again. They don't need to trade anyone. He might even be spurned that they didn't trade for him.
big deal, one year delay for Kawhi to get there

Reactions are all over the place. Keep hearing it’s a four year $154 million, but don’t know anything more. Someone explain to me why we would trade Kawhi to them? Why help him out? Unless they are giving us the moon which they don’t have to give.

If he’s not getting the super-max in 2019, we will have 35% of our total money to spend elsewhere. Why help out Kawi if he was less than noble in his dealing with us? I didn’t buy in before, but it’s possible he was good to play and quit on the team. Don’t get much lower if true. It would behoove him to prove himself this season and then move on down the road or he’s going to b3 damaged goods on top of setting $80 million on fire.

Exactly If the Lakers want to just sign K Leonard next year they will make sure they have cap space for it. Of course they will offer the Spurs trash hoping the Spurs bite this year.

    It’s a 4-yr/$154M with a player option after the 3rd year.

    Today's NBA players

Durant ed out with the most cliched decision possible, so it's no surprise LeBron did. Some might argue Lebron is taking a harder road, but I feel this decision is entirely predicated on the Lakers promising to build a "superteam" around him. Expect Kawhi there next season along with some B-tier ring chasers. And once again, the NBA balance has dramatically shifted. The East is pretty much gutted now. Boston doesn't have the raw talent and Philly is missing their big 3 piece.

If they cave like cowards on Kawhi, that might as well include Murray with him. Because Murray will slap them around to get to play with LeBron. And the Spurs will be such sad losers they'll give in.

decent move, tbh... finally RC has some compe ion in the FO business... they still need to trade a lot of pieces to even match RC's masterful Patty and Pau deals, and the recent Beli signing, but this is a good first step, tbh...

To try and talk some sense into posters like you. Go learn something rather than speculating about weak minded losers who have zero character or education...
