    This.

He'd likely have gotten it if he met with the Spurs and just shown he was both healthy and committed to the team longterm. Instead, apparently, he was offended that the Spurs had some doubt after he sat out 73 games with a disputed injury. Imagine that.
I guess his camp wasn't offended that the Spurs doubt about his healthy, it seemed like they just confirmed what other people told them that the Spurs wouldn't offer that type of deal.

Remember that there were rumors about the Spurs couldn't afford a supermax since 2017 offseason.

If any other team spread those rumors to make Kawhi's camp to buy it or the rumors were true and the Spurs won't sign that deal to anyone, we will never know it.

Kawhi's doctors in NY never cleared him to play, if he felt his quad wasn't 100%, like it or not, it was his right not to play injured.
Like it or not he shopped 6-7 doctors 8 dr his uncle paid dr to say sit

but it was also his responsibility to demonstrate this to his teammates and the fan base more profoundly. his team was likely as frustrated by his lack of communication and support as they were by the enigmatic injury. duncan was also a very quiet personality but he never deferred to silence when it came to supporting his team.

Fine him/suspend him for most of next season. I wouldn't want this cancer anywhere near the team. If Philly gives you a semi-decent trade then take it, otherwise just suspend him for most of this year.

This got has shown his true colors. I know Lakerfan is excited to get this guy because of his talent but who's to say that he won't pull the same again wherever he goes at the first sign of trouble?

Whether it's this summer or the next, you'll have Uncle Dennis in the same organization with Lavar Ball, LeBron/Rich Paul, Magic Johnson with the LA and national media spotlight all over them. And that's supposed to be a recipe for success?

This guy pulled this on one of the most stable franchises in all of sports and he's all of a sudden going to clean up his act once the lights get bright? Good luck

Spurs have tried to work with him. Could have gotten an outside (non-spurs or kawhi's chosen doctor) to give there opinion. Chances are it would have coincided with the Spurs medical stuff (considering it took Kawhi about 8-9 doc visits to find someone to hear him out ...).

This league/injury is also based on trust. Trust that kawhi and his "camp" have violated.

Work in a frield where we get exposure to radiation. Once had a colleague who kept saying she was pregnant every week to get out of doing that work. We had to force her into weekly pregnancy tests because she claimed she was pregnant all the time to get out of doing work.

The eighth doctor someone finds tells him his shoulder is messed up and he gets pills + workman’s comp. While right by the letter of the law, it doesn’t make it morally right.
I guess sports's doctors, esp Kawhi's doctors who work for NY teams, have a lot a better rep and prestige than those 8 doctors.

I highly doubt 9 out of 10 doctors got it "wrong". Doc in NY also has an ego, doctor to these "stars", etc. Advertise it. Build up his rep, etc.

    Get an independent opinion.

All of Kawhi's problems are above the neck. Doesn't need an orthopedic surgeon, he needs a psychiatrist.

Please don't feed trolls that are still defending this guy's actions, Kawhi is getting roasted in all types of NBA circles for good reason

He'll get some of that rep back if he's winning games in LA next year but for now everybody knows that he's pulling one of the biggest moves in sports history

This dude should legit not travel to SA for a few years, I'm only half-joking when I say I'm worried what some crazy SA fan might do to him if he shows up in the building tbh

I've said before that supermax is not just about money...It's about status. Like everything in the NBA.

It's about to put a player at the same level of the other superstars. It's to put Kawhi at Curry's level.

When that deal is denied, it doesn't matter to lose $20M, $40M, or $80M.
Bull. Its all about the money. You just mentioned earlier that they were pissed as soon as the Spurs didn't offer it.

That's whay I've said, both sides handled his badly. He could communicate better but the team already knew what type of person they're dealing with...The Spurs should have found ways to improve the communication in the previous years before it explodes this way...

They don’t have a better rep. One of the foremost doctors for this type of injury spoke about the doctor Kawhi was with and that he was not even on the map for this type of injury in terms of prestige.

The truth of the matter is Kawhi will stay if he is presented with the max offer. Plain and simple.

He quit on the team. I confirmed what Bill Simmons said. He shopped around for a doctor to diagnose him. Why? He felt pain? He wanted to sit out? I go with the latter because of his stance right now, which is I want to go to L.A. The Spurs are reluctant to offer because of the supposed injury and because of the headache HE caused.

PLEASE have him come back. That’s the most realistic path towards the Lakers NOT having max cap space next offseason.
We are not signing any Multi-year deals, homey.
Especially not with Randle's agent who just disrespected Magic.
No hard feelings on him staying in OKC but not giving magic a meeting was disrespectful but KCP at one year 12 is much better than paying PG the max for 4.
Let Randle play out the QO on a year deal and we will send him to another team at the deadline if he is still unhappy.
Otherwise he become unrestricted next year and we get about 10 million in cap-space everyone wins.

    A top 3 player doesn't have to...

And his camp knows that the Spurs won't offer that at any cir stances to anyone, that's what they asked for a trade.

We will see what happen to DJ when he asks for his max next offseason...
Spurs ponied up and gave Kawhi his MAX. Of course, he then only played, and looks to only play two seasons of the five, four if you count the option.

I wonder why you still talk in present or future. There is no future between Kawhi and the Spurs. It's too late for that.

his teammates didn't care before because there was no need for him to talk at those times. but they definitely were frustrated by his lack of support when all this was going down. at some point, silence confirms rumors and assumptions.

This got YGWHI better be getting paid quite a sum by Uncle Dumbass for his semen-shielding, and I'm being in' serious. His dedication is absolutely mental ..
