pelinka swinging his around with these 1 year contracts. spurs are boxed into a corner tbh
If they play with these guys, Lance, boogie, rondo, how do their young players keep value? Then next year, kathi comes, and what? Does cousins have some wink deal to take one year and then resign with scraps? I could see kathi be convinced to go to a better constructed team.

Plus if you love Parker acting surly wait till he meets rondo lol

they're sending the clear message that they're preserving a max slot for next offseason
and that worked out so well for the lackers already (PG)

Pop will make him a star.
The chance to do a Lakers trade is dead. Apparently Randle doesn't like SA or RC doesn't like Randle. Probably both.

this was over when Maginka showed they would be more than happy to hand out only 1 year deals this season, probably with lebron's blessing, tbh. at that point Phila drew a line in the sand at their covington/saric offer as their final offer. PATFO obviously views Ingram as significantly better than that, and they realize that's as good as they will get.

should have made a deal when the 10th pick and fultz were on the table tbh, or jaylen brown.
Exactly Had the Spurs been more committed to really making a trade on draft night then they could have gotten more from Phil including the 10th pick that Phil was all right trading. Spurs needed to have beaten Phoenix to the table with an offer but they should have had things worked out days before the draft with Phil. they didn't make a trade because they didn't want a trade not because they couldn't make a trade they liked.

The Spurs were still not convinced they wanted to trade Leonard and that is why there was no trade.

Won't happen but if Leonard ends up playing for the Spurs this year waiting to sign with LA at the end of his contract, play that SOB 48 minutes a game, none of that Pop resting guys stuff......

who cares about the young players' value?

they'll be able to outright sign kawhi and let rondo/stephenson/KCP walk.

you'll have ball/kawhi/ingram/lebron as starters and still have kuzma/hart off the bench. and now ring chasing veterans get the added benefit of playing in ing LA instead of a hole like cleveland

so was the meeting with randle today to ask him if he would agree to a sign and trade to SA? or did it fall apart before they met with randle because the spurs told LA no thanks? or, did rondo become a possibility and this then led to renouncing randle?

Counting the deals for KCP, McGee, and Stephenson puts them at about $13.5 million in capspace assuming they only want to trade Ingram, which is a little less than $3 million short of what they'd need to trade for Kawhi. Problem is if the Spurs take back their young guys making $1.5 to $1.7 million a year each the Lakers get hit with am $840k cap hold for each one, meaning each young player they trade only nets them $660k to $860k in cap space.

A Kawhi deal was much more in play with Randle on the books since LA could use their Bird Rights to sign Randle and trade him for Leonard. That alone would have easily made matching salary (eg 1/1.25 of Leonard's money).
    Perfect

they still could sign and trade randle to us. The only possibility to match salaries ?

damn it looks like spurs are set to ride this disaster out through next season and are letting leonard walk

and that worked out so well for the lackers already (PG)
PG's relationship with OKC all things considered was neutral prior to the season. he presumably wanted to go to LA and ultimately fell in love with OKC/Westbrook.

thats very different than kawhi who apparently isn't even on speaking terms with the club. and PG wasn't the lakers primary goal this summer, they didnt roll out the red carpet for him. it became all about lebron/kawhi with PG being the afterthought

So Lebron left Hill, Love, Smith, Clarkson, and Hood for Rondo, Lance, Ball, Ingram, and McGee?

He somehow has managed to put together a team that is more dysfunctional than the Cavs were last year.

So they have 3 PGs right? Thomas, Ball, and Rondo?
Ball is going out in a trade. Spurs need to get another team in a 3 way deal to get better assets.
