I don't think there's any way Wright didn't get the ok from the Spurs before telling his Dennis the Menace stories. , they probably encouraged him to tell them. He's known those stories for a while so for him to tell them now, there has to be something larger at play. IMO it's either:
1. The Spurs are making a last ditch effort to get Kawhi to see the light when it comes to his group. Like Wright said, the Spurs understand why Uncle Dennis is important to Kawhi but they don't think he has his best interests in mind. It's a delicate situation, and it's probably impossible for the Spurs to be direct about it without Kawhi getting defensive about his family...but maybe, if he sees that not only do the Spurs feel that way but so does the whole nation now that stories are coming out, he snaps?
2. The Spurs have given up on the relationship. They've sat idle since the trade demand, letting the group of incompetent re s try to drag their name through the mud because they were still trying to get through to Kawhi. It makes sense that once they've given up on that they start punching back and standing up for what their proud program stands for.
