So they hope and pray Fultz gets as good as.................Kawhi ?

Hey, I’m not going to give you this lottery ticket because the jackpot IF I win is $1,000,000 and they winning ticket you are trying to trade me is only worth $999,999.
It actually is: "I know you are offering me 1 million dollar on cash, but I'm feeling optimistic about this 5k lottery ticket. So, no deal".

The fit of Fultz with Kawhi/Simmons/Embiid isn't even good
We saw a brief preview of how it would be when TJ Mcconnell played alongside Simmons in the Celtics series and it worked superbly. Brown was reluctant to throw Fultz alongside Simmons but should he regain his ability to make shots another ball handler in the lineup is essential. His length also allows him to guard 1-2's.

I'm not gonna argue with a Sixers fan that's probably one of apa the murse's alts.

This is like if Spurfan said "man we can't give up Dejounte, i don't care how good Anthony Davis is...."

It’s pretty damn simple IMO although I fully understand what teams are doing. I think they are stupid and will end up losing their jobs over it eventually, but they are playing the “leverage” game vs just doing a deal that they know will tremendously help their team.

They know Fultz is worth Kawhi, but because Kawhi is doing damage to the Spurs they are TRYING to not have to include Fultz. Its stupid and silly, but that is how business works sometimes.

But big picture, there is zero downside for PHI in terms of truly harming their future. Let’s just make two assumptions: Fultz reaches his ceiling and becomes James Harden and Kawhi leaves PHI after one year.

I think everyone would agree that is worst case scenario by far. Forgetting that Fultz becoming Harden is very unlikely and that Kawhi seems to be willing to give PHI a shot to re-sign him, if that happens, PHI is still in a tremendous spot.

Fultz didn’t play this year and PHI had a great season. They would still have virtually all the same assets (especially if the trade included Wilson Chandler vs RoCo) as this year, their two MAIN cornerstones and still a ton of cap space to replace Kawhi with another player(s).

So even if worst case scenario played out, PHI would have a reasonable path to still being an NBA finals team all things considered.

Would it suck if that happened to them? For sure, but it’s really unlikely and even if it did they are still a very good team.

The upside is obviously franchise altering.
You can say the same about Spurs PATFO in refusing to trade with the Lakers tbh

It's all a ruse by Philly to make Fultz look more valuable than he is.
Everybody is playing poker, on the real, right now.
I'm glad Pop and RC aren't being impatient and pushing their chips in.

If the offers out there really are straight trash (PHI w/o Fultz, LA w/o Ingram, Clippers), then sign me up for the 1% chance the Spurs win a championship next year and Kawhi walks for nothing...

Because that is significantly better than the 0% chance the Spurs will be relevant for the next 10 years if they took such a offer....

What SA should do is be reverse mind-screwing these teams. Instead of talking about Kawhi trades since the other teams are arguing all the negatives, flip it and engage them on trades for their stars. Offer up more than they are offering for Kawhi and when they say no say “wait a minute, you said stars aren’t worth this much but now when I offer you more for your stars all of the sudden it’s not enough”

    Just to see them scramble.

And all the awkward BS we can look forward to with Kawhi and Uncle Dennis along the way!
This would be my personal choice of things to happen, even if they don't win it all.

Bruh, we're talking about a guy that has Tony Parker penetration + Derrick Rose athleticsm + Steve Nash shooting ability.

If I was the Spurs I would be like: "look, enough with the bull . Kawhi's camp said they would sign with you if Kawhi's traded here. This is the only way you have of getting him. He's not signing with you in free agency without having played for you the previous year. So that's that. The only way you get Kawhi is if you give us Fultz and that Miami pick. That's it. Do you want a player that will be the best player in the league for the next 5 seasons, or do you want to see if your physically and mentally broken prospect pans out? Put up or shut up."

Sure it does. The Lakers have the best available package. PATFO gonna draw this out and make some GMs make absolute offers, all because you farmers hate LA. It's quite comical tbh

Right, like instead of offering up Kawhi to BOS, just go try to get Kyrie for the same logic.

“Danny, Kyrie missed a lot of time, he wants out, and you don’t have any leverage. He will be leaving you unless you trade him. He only has one year left on his deal so he is majorly risky between that and his injury concerns. You can’t have any of our top 5 players, but we will give you some picks for him.”

I'd almost rather be a farmer at this point. And I work with Hollywood on the daily. Horrible, horrible people in "The Business".
