The pitch to LeBron was that they'd sign such ridiculous players to go around him they'd barely make the playoffs and he could say it was their fault. He could just take it easy and make movies or whatever.
That roster they have right now is just barely touching the playoffs in the West (maybe 40 wins), going to be a long year for LeBron as a Laker.

I love how the Lakers front office went from “Hey here’s our garbage for your garbage, but you can only have THIS MUCH garbage, nothing more. No? Okay, we didn’t want your garbage anyway”. I wonder how much they paid sports writers to generate media pressure just to be spurned after a week. If they can sign him next year, it doesn’t make sense to be trading for him now.

Still laughing at Kareem’s tweet telling people to watch out for news from San Antonio. Which bit of news? Belinelli’s signing? Anderson leaving? Bertans re-upping for four more years? Looooool
Lakers spent so much time tampering with the Kawhi camp, they thought the Spurs would just roll over and give him up for nothing. They legitimately thought they were going to get LeBron-Paul George-Kawhi. Now they look like buffoons with LeBron and crap like Lance Stephenson. They can't even get rid of Lonzo and now they're entertaining the idea of signing for Carmelo Anthony.

Amazing. That team just looks like goofy trash. Even Julius Randle was like, "I'm ing out of here."

Laker fans are already turning on Bron and they are in the ecstasy stage. Wait until LA wins 45 games and everyone is going “what the ! How with all of our young superstars is this possible when with CLE he won more than that!!”

Yup, I've tried to delude myself for the last month that Fultz, Ingram, etc. wouldn't be absolute ass but there's no sugarcoating it tbh.

Lock his ass up with a supermax and tell him we'll trade him as soon as Pop retires if needed.

My player analysis is off the charts. Green has been the past 3 years. Trust me, they'd pick green over MVPatty.

LA's pitch to Paul George this year was completely embarrassing. The pitch to LeBron was that they'd sign such ridiculous players to go around him they'd barely make the playoffs and he could say it was their fault. He could just take it easy and make movies or whatever.
They didn’t even get a chance to make a pitch to George. Imagine getting fined for tampering only to see the guy you’ve courted go to another team.

There’s merit in the long game they’re trying to play saving cap space for next season. L.A. will always be just that, a team aggressively poaching stars from other teams by selling the lifestyle and their “legacy”, whatever that’s worth now. Let’s not forget the time Kobe couldn’t even win with Nash and Howard and how he relied on big men they also poached to capitalize on the post-up era.

Because Lakers fans are wildly overrating their 'core.' Look on reddit or elsewhere. They think Ingram and Kuzma are legitimate. They think the team isn't trying to dump Lonzo on the down low.

LeBron's just there to live the LA lifestyle. Lakers are Cavs West, I don't think LeBron can carry a team to the Finals every season not with Warriors, Rockets and Spurs in his way.

he was able to carry a team to the finals in the east only to get stomped by gsw. now he'll just get stomped by gsw in an earlier round. they're not making the finals, not even close

It won't be Fultz he's not being traded so you don't have to worry. I think it'll be Covington/Saric/Filler+Miami Pick, Sixers 2019 pick, rights to Kings 1st 2019 protected pick.
That's just Filler/Filler/Filler+picks. I'd rather just get nothing and make that mute got sit out the season.

He'll be answering a ton of questions after every single game.
Every damn game as they tread water.

At some point he'll tell them "We need more help".

They're going to need more help...

Spurs might be booty too depending on what happens with Kawhi tbh.

Can somebody clarify what happens if Kawhi sits out without a medical reason? I heard that he loses eligibility for free agency or something along those lines..

    What's the actual rule?

They had a pitch to George, or at least there was some 'poem' floating around that they wrote him. So humiliating.

I was stunned to see them sign McGee and Stephenson and Rondo. What the is this team? If you're punting to next year, you're creating a really weird team environment. I don't know what they're showing their young players, and not just because Rondo is basically a better Lonzo and stuff like that. For years this team has been adrift and now they're trying to patch it over with FA signings. That never works if you don't have a team culture.

pretty sure his contract just tolls, or some equivalent. spurs would retain his rights the following season

Keep Kawhi. Go into the season.
    Make people squirm.
Show whether he's ready to play, or not.

Watch the Lakers go barely above .500 and the pressure it brings.

Watch it all unfold and then things will come to the Spurs.

Everybody saying they want this to end don't know how to run .
    Patience is key.

So the team that drafted Russell #2 just to dump him, drafted Randle #7 just to let him walk for free because they didn’t view him as all that special is really going all-in on their draft prowess and player development on Ingram/Ball/Kuz. What could go wrong there with their stellar history???

Also, there is such a risk they are running if they really want Kawhi/Bron. Imagine if Bron gets badly injured - is Kawhi or anyone going there? Sure that can happen anytime, but you pair the superstars now and risk it happening on your watch, not someone else’s. What if Kawhi gets injured and now you are relying on some other stars to come who might not even make it “truly” to free agency?

First goal for the Lakers is to make the playoffs, if injury's creep up that might not even happen this season. LeBron will probably be to busy reading the Space Jam 2 script to care lol.

He never fulfils the last year of his contract and still owes it to the team. Not a free agent.
