Kawhgi didn't know any of this. He knew he hated Parker after Parker made those comments. He also knew he loves his family. His uncle made all the choices here, that much is clear. He's okay with the results too if it means he gets to leave SA. Actions speak louder than words and he hasn't even wanted to be in the same city as the Spurs for months now.

Also, why would Kawhi sit out another year under the guise of still being injured? Teams are already questioning his health. Nobody is going to give a max deal to a player who has played nine games in 2 seasons.

They just signed a bunch of 1-year deals to free up space for a real le run in '19-'20. LeBron clearly didn't come expecting to win it all immediately as the Warriors are still at their height. They'll grab Kawhi for the cheap when he comes free after this season.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

What is so wrong with the Clippers' assets? If we lose Kawhi I'd love to get back someone who can create their own shot (Tobias) and I think he'd love a long contract given all the uncertainty he's already faced in his career. Manu, Green, and Marco will all be going away real soon and SGA looks like he could be really good, great wingspan. Affordable rookie deal, too. Harrell would be a great defender too although he's a shooting liability. Again, great wingspan. Not sure how including him (he's a RFA) would work in a S&T for Kawhi along with the other two guys. Maybe instead he could just be in a separate wink wink S&T for just Mills and then Beverly is included along with Tobias and SGA for Kawhi.

I think this could work well-we'd run far less risk of creating a superteam and the Clippers I think would have more of a reassurance (than Philly) he will re-sign so they would give more. And by not creating a superteam if we get back say their 2021 and 2023 first round picks, then those picks will probably be a lot better.
