Even the vanilla Spurs fans on reddit hate this signing. It's hilarious trying to justify this .
You know you're a PATFO slurper of the highest order when even the Reddit casuals disagree with you on a PATFO move. Goddamn.

Not been a good season for PATFO IMO, this is another choice I would not have made...

When is Pop planning to sign someone over 6'4''? Are there spots even available to sign those players that we are missing?
    good question

Would be gross if he took minutes away from Derrick White again
I'd agree. But don't see that as the plan. In fact I could see them both on the floor at times.

There comes a point when you as a Spurs fan need to take a step back, get PATFO's out of your mouth and re-evaluate your Spurs fandom decisions especially when some of the ultimate slurpers disagree with you.

Anything more than a team option on year 2 at the minimum is ridiculous. Even THAT is just stupid.

He's cheap, he knows the system, pop likes him, you don't have to like it, just have some ing self respect
To everyone whining, please be ready to debate surefire players at the minimum who are not ring chasers who are willing to play for low salary comparable to what Forbes gets. Y'all act like the Spurs are some mythical front office who can find players others teams haven't.

Please, guaranteed money will help him with the confidence to succeed, maybe a player option would be appropriate

I expect Kawhi to be gone, and Covington and Saric may end up being on this team before the season starts, and Manu to retire.

Murray, Mills, Covington, Saric and LMA

White, Green, Beli, Gay and Gasol

That would probably be the rotation in that scenario.

So that makes Forbes coming back even weirder, I don't see a path to minutes for him
What is the point of Covington at $11 million when they wouldn't pay Fathead $9 million?

Not really a Covington fan so I'm not advocating for him, but I think that extra 2 mill would be the cost of the actual pair between the guy's legs unlike that puss Fathead.

You are using hyperbole. No one said it makes or breaks things.
All due respect DPG, you are one of the only few (SAgirl along with a couple others) that actually cited your rationale. Otherwise, it's just been a toxic stew of breathless idiocy.

You won't have much to say during the regular season when Forbes is running around the court like a chicken with his head chopped off, constantly missing his defensive assignments and then shoots a bunch of airballs on the other end.

Seems like your talent evaluation is a bit off...

Covington is a Top 3 and D player in the league

I won't defend a second season of that. What makes you think I would. I think a cheap contract is fine for someone with his shooting skills though.

Does no one on this board remember the shouts for more shootiers last year? He was the most efficient 3Pt shooter on our team. Sometimes people get better at the mistakes they made previously. I'm willing to bet his coaches have been and will continue to work with him on those deficiencies. I'm also willing to bet he'll be better next year. If he is, then a vet minimum contract is a great deal. Especially when we need a 3pt shooter off the bench to get us going.
