I'm a Spurs podcast addict so I listen to a lot of different ones. Spurs Insider Podcast came out with the Kawhi "thank you" letter pod, and Jabari went off. This guy is such a nephew ball fondler. When his co-host disagreed with him, he was furious. If you want to hear Young yell from frustration, this is for you. Funniest part is that Young, after clearly being biased for Kawhi, claimed he was "neutral." If your anti-Kawhi, listen for Young getting pissed, and also discussions about Spurs schedule, some stuff on Derrick White, and lineup opinions. If your a player fan aka pro-Kawhi, listen to Young passionate defend Kawhi's camp.
JY-"Better late than never" (referring to letter) NOT IF ITS A GENERIC POST!

JY-"I'm not taking up for Kawhi Lenard" ... LOL REALLY, a little in denial? Sad you don't have Kawhi's nuts to gobble anymore?

JY-"i still want to cover Kawhi Leonard" NO LOL

JY-"I'm not going to get in a twitter war or reply to anybody" .... righhhhhht

Thanks for this, so fun to hear Jabari Young this frustrated! He gets soooooo defensive when he was presented with an alternative perspective (aka the truth). I also love the way the interviewer basically laughs at JY every time he says "you obviously have a different opinion on this"

His co-host pretty much laughs in his face the entire time and Young blows a gasket. Glad someone else enjoyed it.

why is jabari young even allowed to cover the spurs? he’s a player fan for a guy who abandone the team and isn’t even here anymore, he doesn’t fit in with the city’s culture in any capacity...there are plenty of local guys with journo degrees who’d do a much better job

My guess is that the Spurs are just playing the waiting game for plausible deniability, and will deny him credentials eventually, effectively ending his job at the E-N.

Overrated player. Scored alot in the 14 finals like Parker in the 07. Spurs were winning even if they kept their averages.

Was the purple font supposed to be a hidden message or subtle jab that he's still signing with the lakers?

Nah. Parker was dominant against Cleveland in '07, and he was the focal point. Leonard was great, but it was mainly his D that got him FMVP.

Agree. It was a the beautiful game, a total team effort that won the 2014, not that got mute. I can’t wait to see that he’s a system player albeit a great one but still a system player, and cannot be effective without a great coach, maybe Stevens or Brown.

Agree that it was the beautiful game, but I def don't think he's a system player anymore, not since 2015 at least. He's a top 3 player, and when healthy, maybe even the best in the league. He can pull up in mid range, has a very good post game, can drain the three, and is not only best perimeter defender in the league, but at least top 10 (maybe even the best) perimeter defender of all time. He's a mute re who has no professionalism and is his uncle daddy's little , but no denying that he is really really good, as much as I wish he wasn't.

Kawhi has been blessed to play with an All-NBA teammate for his whole entire career. This will be the first time in his career that he's not playing with an ALL-NBA teammate. It will be interesting to see how defenses will now be able to focus more on him knowing there is nobody else on the offensive end that is a threat to help him out. I'm sure he will still be an all-star but I don't see him leading the Raptors out of the East with the talent they have.

Well I will reserve my opinion until he proves me wrong playing with a regular coach. I still don’t think he has the mental capacity/toughness to lead a team, esp a young team like Toronto.

Just my opinion. I'm sure many disagree, but I do think he's that good. Maybe not the best yet, but can be. Just an fyi though, I do think that he is mentally weak in many aspects and will never root for the guy, and that he's a complete and utter moron who lost 80 million (more if you factor in Toronto and LA's taxes if he decides to leave), but I've always thought he's a great player on the court. None of that has really changed, unless his injury lingers (which I hope it does).

He more than likely won't make it because of the superior depth of star power at guard and his relatively paltry counting stats, but if Lowry can stave off significant decline for another season, he's absolutely an All-NBA caliber player (unbeknownst to many, he's graded out as a top 15 regular season player the past half decade) . . . and before you make a predictable comment about his post season struggles, we're talking about a regular season award.

Lowry is like the Carmelo of PG"s. Just like Melo he's a fat chucker that shoots awful FG percentages. To me he's not all-NBA player. Just a chucker who pads his stats. The guys who Kawhi played with who were All-NBAers ala Duncan,Parker,LMA were legit top 3-5 players at their positions when they won those awards. Lowry has never been close to being a top 3 player at his position.

Terrible comparison. Things Lowry is significantly better than Anthony at: 3-point shooting (particularly of the pull up variety, which is the most valuable shot in today's game), play making, defending, rebounding his position.

Irving, Lillard and Wall, have more star power, but Lowry has been the 4th best regular season PG in the past half decade (Curry, Paul, Westbrook).

I was just being a . Sorry for that.

He cant keep up with fast point guards. His post defense is suspect as well. Has good eye and hand coordination. Length is his main weapon. I always thought he was overrated. The NBA just sucks now. Gm's rewarding mediocre players with huge contracts will do that. Players are coddled too much. There are about 5 great players in this league now.

Disregarding everything else I said and relying on archaic stats. TS% is more important than FG%. The league average is roughly 55%. 4 of the last 5 seasons, Lowry has exceeded it, 3 times significantly so . . . Anthony hasn't exceeded it in 4 seasons and barely did so 5 ago. That's the value of the 3.

You actually disregarded a lot of what I said in my original post to hype up Lowry. Like I said before Kawhi was fortunate to play with guys who were top 3-5 at their position for most of his career. I don't believe Lowry even comes close to the caliber of player that Parker,LMA,Duncan were when they were making All-NBA teams while playing besides Kawhi. This will be first time he's playing with someone who is not of that caliber. Sure he will still be a star but I'm interested to see how far he can go with the Raptors which includes the playoffs. Hence why you conveniently left out how Lowry is a ty playoff performer to sell your argument. My bold prediction is the Raptors will get bounced in the second round. It's going to be Kawhi and a bunch of nobodies. I don't think Kawhi has it in him to go into god mode and carry a team on his shoulders like Lebron,Duncan has done in the past.

TS% is a garbage stat and is very flawed. I have argued and debated it in other threads so I'm not going to beat a death horse. Your not going to win me over with a stat that I find flawed. Lowry is fat out of shape chucker that relies heavily on jacking up a bunch of 3's. It's why he usually chokes in the playoff since teams can easily game plan against him. I trust the "old archaic" FG percentage over TS and with that stat Lowry is ty in my eyes. I'm not impressed by him and I have watched him the last several years. Lowry is definitely going to be a guy who gets exposed after next season when he's on an island not playing with Demar or Kawhi. I predict he will fall off of a cliff and never make it to an all-star game after the 2019 season.
