The crowd in the cheap seats always give it all they got. The blue noses in the lower seats are too full of themselves to cheer like a real fan. They don't go to see the game. They go to be seen at the game.
If I were a season ticket holder, it would factor into my decision to renew or not, possibly. If I were on the edge, it could be the thing that tipped the scales.
Dance team members across all the leagues are beginning to lobby--and sue-- for higher pay and benefits as permanent and regular employees of sports teams. Teams will look at the costs vs. the somewhat timeworn spectacles of team dancers and decide whether the dancers are worth it. And there are all sorts of organizations or individuals that will perform for little or nothing.
And remember that the twenty minutes of time that the dancers fill up isn't as much of a draw as a visit to the restrooms and buying another beer or food item. Nobody stays in their seats to watch the dancers.
Exactly. I never met anybody who came back from a basketball game and said,"Wow! How about those dancers. Weren't they great!" I, for one, would never miss them.
