So what happens if say 2 of Pondexter, Henderson, Huestis, and McRoberts out play some guys with full contracts?
    Nothing.

Ayyyyy Huestis! I'll be rooting for him to get that last spot. Very solid defender and a good rebounder for his size, but quite limited offensively.

They would have to set the world on fire to get the Spurs to reconsider the 15 they have.

It would also mean that the bottom of the Spurs' current depth chart really sucks.

Probably trade or let go Forbes and Gasol go and will bring in Nikola as far as two draft picks they might combine and move up. If they keep both I see them drafting one foreign player "draft and stash" and keeping the other one but will see.

A lot will depend on how Bertans and Forbes play as both are on cheap contracts and could be moved or let go.

I also like the fact we are connecting with these "name" guys...Henderson (athletic back court defense and scoring), Huestis (perimeter defense and rebounding), Mc Roberts (scoring and rebounding) and Pondexter (perimeter defense and scoring) are all skilled...possible for all three a training camp invite.
One month has still to pass before the first rs game, and they are already playing with the team for some time... still possible to evaluate definitely if they can fit and what they have in the tank (for the old ones or the ones coming from injuries). The healtier and younger of the four is Huestis, no doubts about it, and he also fills a role we need really...that's why he was my favourite sf signing...

I personally like the spurs looking at pondexter, Henderson, and Huestis. It’s gonna be hard to find a guy to come here on the cheap that can fill that 3 and D spot. Maybe they have some other guy up their sleeve that hasn’t been talked about but its going to be an important spot to fill on the roster even if it is the 15th roster spot on the team.
Henderson is the best player, overall. Huestis fits a lot of the need, but in truth may not see anymore time than he did in OKC. Pop just does not have the patience for this kid to develop a shot even if he is primarily playing for defense. McRoberts makes sense if you want to give some minutes to Bertans at SF. Pondexter? Don't see a good fit.

Of note on Huestis defense over a series of games that he started. The 11 players he was most matched up with were Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, C.J. McCollum, T.J. Warren, Devin Booker, Trevor Ariza, Buddy Hield, Kevin Durant, Andrew Wiggins, Jimmy Butler and Lou Williams. Huestis guarded those 11 players on a combined 440 possessions, during which they made 50 of 113 shots (44.2 percent). He is a great shot blocker and Thunder outscored foes by 10.7 points per 48 minutes when he played along side their starters, when he was on the floor. His shooting including foul shooting is abysmal. He could only play with shooters on the floor as offensively it would be 4 on 5.

Deng is going to be at our training camp, isn't he? His body has been well preserved the past few years so he should be good to go.

Wouldn't mind spurs looking at Deng for the minimum as a bench PF. He's still ok, really don't know why LA basically refused to play him after paying him so much

I think Deng was caught up in the regime change. Mitch signed him to the big contract and then got fired, himself. The New regime wanted to rebuild. IIRC.

Still don't want Deng. We need a mobile SF.

Lakers only played Deng 1 game last season and he sucked previous season. Spurs should definitely show interest but it seems he may be washed up. Anyway buying out Deng means Lakers know they have 1 of Kawhi or Butler in the bag for next season.

Deng sucks. He wasnt that good in miami his last year. Lakers threw big money at a trash player.

What ferry said about deng was right. Hindsight confirms feery's controversial statement.

Is Lillard quietly being shopped? We already know about Kemba but Lillard, too? This shows how many expectations have PATFO on DJ...Otherwise, they could trade Kawhi for one of these guys over DeRozan.

Rumors around Heat moving on Goran Dragic. Phoenix and Kokoskov want a PG, I bet they are interested. Kokoskov and Dragic won European Championship last summer.

The Suns have been a joke lately but they have Booker, Ayton and are investing some money in short veteran contracts. Now looking for a decent PG. Igor Kokoskov is a good coach. Looks like finally, they're doing the correct things. The first step is to reestablish a professional work atmosphere: Design a consistent plan (GM-Coaching-Roster), order the locker room mixing youth-experience-leadership, empower your coaches and build up from there. They will be better this season.

Dragic demanded a trade from Phoenix and the same ownership and front office is still in place that caused him to want to leave. I doubt Phoenix wants to bring a player back that was so unhappy.

What's the plan for next offseason then? Don't re-sign either of Cunningham/Pondexter to make room for both first round picks? Move Forbes so that we can bring in Blossomgame if he develops a 3?
-Waive Gasol (or stretch and waive him- the difference being a one time $6.7 million dollar hit or $2.3 million over the next three seasons)

-Don't re-sign Cunningham and whomever the 15th man ends up being- unless it's Carrol.

    -Bring over Milutinov.

-Draft and sign one of our first rounders and stash the other. A SF is an obvious priority unless there but I'm not sure what possibly two picks in the 21-26 range gets them.

-I still don't know what Blossomgame is; his game seems to be much closer to an NBA 4 but is only 6'7 with a 6'10 wingspan. He doesn't really shoot 3's either, it's a weird roster fit but he still may be on next years team as a cheap prospect.

G-F-Murray, Mills, White, Forbes, DDR, Gay, Walker, 1st rounder, Blossomgame, Belinelli

    PF-C-LMA, Milutinov, Metu, Bertans, Poeltl

There would be no open roster spots open in that scenario.

I don't much roster change other than essentially swapping Gasol out for Milutinov, adding a 1st rounder, etc.

Didn't Belli sign a 2 year deal too?
