Paul Manafort would almost certainly be asked to provide “blockbuster information” to Robert Mueller before investigators would accept his guilty plea.
“I’ve been behind those closed doors in well over 100 meetings in secure interview rooms with defendants who are hoping to become cooperators,” Kirschner said.
“There are a couple features that I think are universal in those meetings,
and I’m quite sure this is how it played out for the Mueller team.”
He said prosecutors would tell Manafort to list every crime he had committed,
and then identify every crime committed by others —
and he pointed out the former campaign chairman had taken part in the Trump Tower meeting with Russians offering information against Hillary Clinton.
“They would ask about any crime he knows about, whether Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner or others,”
“Then they begin corroborating everything he’s said with external information.
It’s only after they’re satisfied of all of that that they can offer him a cooperation agreement.”
“Listen, they already have him where they wanted him,”
“My belief is that Mr. Manafort had to deliver some blockbuster, truthful information to get the deal he got.”

Mueller will indict some of the other lobbyists tied to Manafort and call it a wrap.
At this point, it does not appear that Mueller has a collusion case against Trump associates. His indictments involving Russian hacking and troll farms do not suggest complicity by the Trump campaign. I also find it hard to believe Mueller sees Manafort as the key to making a case on Trump when Mueller has had [Richard] Gates — Manafort’s partner — as a cooperator for six months. You have to figure Gates knows whatever Manafort knows about collusion. Yet, since Gates began cooperating with the special counsel, Mueller has filed the charges against Russians that do not implicate Trump, and has transferred those cases to other Justice Department components.

Besides, every experts in this area has already shot down that theory. Manafort has to cooperate about everything he knows. That includes Trump.

Manafort doesn’t know anything about collusion because it never happened. Gates didn’t know anything about collusion because it never happened. Cohen didn’t know anything about collusion because it didn’t happen. Papadopoulos didn’t know anything about collusion because it didn’t happen. Van Dee Zwann didn’t know about collusion because it didn’t happen. Page didn’t know about collusion because it didn’t happen.
Do you see the pattern here? All of them were cooperating with Mueller, none of them charged with collusion or able to give up anything on collusion because it didn’t happen.
