“The potential murder of a high-profile journalist critical of their regime raises grave concerns for us, and we appeal to the leaders of Saudi Arabia to restrict their extrajudicial murders to Yemeni people who don’t have any public platform,” said President Trump, adding that the White House would not sit idly by as the Saudis caused the deaths of innocent people unless they were Yemeni children in a school bus or a group of Yemeni people attending a wedding. “The United States asks Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to content himself with killings that don’t affect business deals or call our diplomatic ties into question, such as airstrikes on Yemeni infrastructure, fueling mass cholera outbreaks, or blocking food and medical supplies from reaching civilians. Look, we don’t even mind if you dismember and murder people inside the Turkish consulate, as long as they’re unknown Yemenis whose deaths won’t cause an international scandal. For the sake of all parties, we demand that the Saudis only kill people who hardly anyone in America cares about.”

    It's called religion.
lol... yeah, although that's debatable in present times, IMVHO. I don't renege (much) about it, since it helps some people.

Anyhow how, the way to deal with most issues in this country is to vote either with your ballot or with your wallet. Pe ion your government, write letters to your congressman, do that . That's doing something about it.

Or I could just start threads expressing outrage over this or that until the trend fades.
I can certainly agree that the former is a more direct approach. But I wouldn't necessarily berate the latter. Sure, there's the boutons and Chris with their moral relativism, but they're easy to skip, and we can still have an amenable discussion about, for example, rationality, despite that. I think it can be worthwhile, sometimes enlightening, sometimes just entertaining.

the "both sides" argument, the killers were bad and so was the killed.

what capital crime(s) did he commit that justified assassination?

    So here's my take:

It doesn't make any sense to lure someone into such a high profile location to murder them in such an overbearing way. Saudis could have easily killed him anywhere between Saudi Arabia and the US. They could have killed him in a drive by shooting, or poisoned him. If they had people fly in using a private jet, 15 people, to kill one man in a government building where cameras exist outside to see him coming and the fact he didn't leave, and they allow his tag along to live... that seems sloppy or staged. I'm not saying he's not dead, but we're not talking about ISIS here. We're talking about incredibly wealthy monarchy dealing with a resident of the USA in a su iously overt manner. Sometimes though a duck is a duck.

Lumping me in with boots, someone doesn't like being wrong ^

I'm always on your mind and you are basically asking for a safe space for your 'discussions.' You're a chicken just like the rest.

Reminds me of the abduction of Adolf Eichmann. Maybe they wanted to just abduct him and bring him to 'trial' in Saudi Arabia, and when they realized it was being recorded, they had to clean up. Or maybe because he had contacts or maybe even political protection in an ally like the US, they just had to disappear him. There's really little doubt he walked into the building and didn't come out, from even video footage and a family member waiting for him.

We like to call these ops 'extraordinary rendition', the Saudi version does look sloppy as though, tbh...

I haven't seen much evidence to prove they are subtle about such things or think them through. After all, they're having their economic summit in the same hotel they imprisoned and tortured their more wealthy citizens before they gave up large portions of their fortunes.

Meh. Clearly we can't apply our value system to the rest of the world. Its a brutal ing culture over there.

My opinion is that we should get all the intel we can before we start a war with Saudi Arabia. They deny it. We are looking in to it. Simple stuff.
