Honestly, less ball stoppers and another big scorer this year (DeRozan.) But without our 3 best defenders last year Murray/Anderson(both were ball stoppers)/Green.
I was actually pleased with Forbes for the most part. DeMar was as expected. Need more Davis and less Cunningham. Cunningham was bad. Patty was pretty poor but hit some shots. LMA was killing it on the offensive glass and had a good game that would have been great had he not missed so many easy shots. Chalk that up to early season jitters. I thought Pau was pretty decent too.
All in all, given what we have, that was a pretty good win. Definite room for improvement, but don't expect much of it on the defensive end. I thought DeMar actually gave good effort on D. I think he'll get better as the year moves on. Man, losing Dejonte is a ing killer. Gonna be a tough year because we're going to be reminded of that all the damn time.

Lol, my bad I looked at the previous season.
Everyone has them penciled in as the #2 best team, so my point still kinda remains. They were a high seed mainly cause their offensive abilities.
DD far surpassed my expectations for the first game. far... the way ST made him sound, I must admit I was a little scared. But he was the best player on the floor tonight and his defense was more than passable. He stayed in plays, fought thru screens, and contested very well. He'll probably never be a defensive play maker but as long as he's solid... boy I tell you. I absolutely loved his passing and that's something we desperately needed. Kawhi as amazing as he is, he's no playmaker at least on an elite level. DD meshes really well with the roster. I don't know how some of y'all feel but I think he could start as PG in a Harden like role. He's not at the level of Harden but he's slithery and has great vision, something I wish Kawhi had.
All in all, we just need a defensive PG and we could be dangerous. Sucks we lost Murray but I think if White gets healthy it could be enough.
I so want to see Bertans get more minutes with the second unit!
He rebounded well in certain instances too. He just needs a longer leash.
They were 7th.
You're such a tool
I looked at the wrong season so I ed up. But you're still a punk who needs to be banned. You bring nothing to the table here.
Nice win.
But i'm not sure if there's a single player on the planet I hate more than loser ass Bryn Forbes tbh. Can't believe he was finishing the game....actually I can since it's Pop.
DeMar played better tonight than I thought he would. Didn’t look rusty or hesitant with a new group of guys around him. Pleasantly surprised and I think he’ll become a fan favorite rather quickly. He’s clearly our best or second best player. Going to have to rely on him a lot this season.
Solid game by LMA also after a rough start. Good win To start off the season.

Poeltl being so bleh is definitely the thing I'm taking from this game. I knew DMDR and LMA were going to be good, and Aldridge having a poor-shooting game doesn't negate that. Bryn was fine, though the Spurs need to stick to their schemes better to protect him. Gay needs to take minutes from both of the team's stars, but I don't know if he can do that physically. I think he's okay, but his health might be wonky all year. Patty played well, as did Marco. Bertans should get minutes, both with the starters and off the bench. He just has the most upside of any player outside the top five.
I'm gonna keep harping on it, but it's almost to the point that Pop needs to find a big to compete with Jakob for third-string center minutes. Of all the positions to have a depth problem, the five can't be one of them.
If anything their defensive performance against the Warriors, in the playoffs, proved that their defense was actually better than 7th.
Spurs have a tough little stretch coming up next starting Monday at Portland, then at the Lakers, then the Pacers at home, then at home vs the Lakers again.
"I looked at the wrong season" Sure you did, reanyone with any sense of bball knowledge knows the Rockets were a good defensive team last season. I don't expect a fat neck like yourself to keep up with the other 29 teams so I'm not surprised you constantly show your stupidity on here.
I've said many times that they got worse this offseason. They lost two good defenders and signed...Melo. People could say that this game vs Pels was nothing, 1st game of the season blah blah but their defense was ugly.
Yea, Dantoni teams are known for being good defensively. People make mistakes (as I'm sure your parents know)
I'm gonna call you Melo. You post a lot of BS and add 0 value. ..be gone Jr.
Def need perimeter defenders, gonna be a train ran on both fords and 50 mills
Their defense was trash. And Harden, who was sort of not on defense last year, was back to his brain dead, matador, not paying attention ways. If they try to play Melo and Harden together, they're in huge trouble.
I for one thought Poeltl was fine, defense and rebounding was good, was doing good things on offense. So he fouls too much but I think he'll get better with time.
Strange that someone as good as DeRozan on offense isn't a better shooter. I mean he made 1/3 and all but he just doesn't look nearly as smooth shooting the three as he does doing other stuff.
I guess you're Matt Bonner then. Always up Pop's asshole and I'm sure your vanilla takes keep your +/- positive on estrogen filled Reddit.
Please. A TP fan that watched some minutes of Parker and Bucks-Hornets? It seemed a close game in the 2nd half, it would be nice if someone talks about how TP played...I missed him tonight. And Manu.
Exactly
I'm not even on Reddit you moron.
