You're right about the team overall, though, they are a bunch of role players, cast offs and 3rd/4th options (on a good team) but play hard.

Start Rudy and somehow, some way find a better alternative than Cunningham/Pondexter at the combo forward.
The argument is that Rivers is making the team look good despite the fact that they don't have a star. That's a credit to him as a coach, not to West for trading away their best players.

No, . I meant he deserves no credit for jettisoning his son. Anyone with a brain knows Doc wanted to keep his son around, but the GM (can't remember if that is Jerry West or not) made that move.
Doc did a good job last year as well keeping the in the playoff hunt. He's a terrible GM, got too much credit at times for prior success (like Pop) but is a damn good coach and motivator.
