Could imagine that Kawhi felt like doing what he did to Pop as his wife was dying. One of the many regrets that Leonard had that he wouldn't articulate to the media. If timvp is correct, Kawhi may have had legit beef with the Spurs that could have warranted a trade request. But it seems that pretty early on, things just completely spiraled out of control.
u cant because what LMA did was worse...it only had less media coverage because no one cared about him...kawhi balled his ass off while on the court...LMA would pout and give up in the middle of games...that happened for the entire season...u forgot there were media reports about him being unhappy since december that year?

LMA was an established All star for multiple seasons and he was not being used anywhere near - where he could utilize his talent. He did the best he could with a system that negated his talent until he decided he needed to play elsewhere. Pop and LMA sat down and both realized that they could work on this challenge and to both GROWN MEN'S CREDIT - they seem to have found a way forward.
In this small ball 3 point NBA with touch fouls on every play - Pop is figuring out how to use LMA as an asset that many teams have given up on - and the verdict is not in yet - Pop may actually know what he is doing.
There is no player available that is leagues better than LMA and if there is - that team will not give him away to get LMA - why can't you get this?

There were rumors that Kawhi wanted to go spend time with Pop after his wife died but decided against it. Who knows why that didn't happen, though I do think there is room for nobility there. It really does make you wonder why the two sides couldn't talk it out, because if Kawhi and Pop have this relationship, it's hard to imagine anyone else with the organization having enough influence to poison the well that much. I almost wish there was a video that stayed on the court to see whom Leonard went to and whom he ignored.
Though maybe it really was just down to the DPE.
