Actually no trades despite the number of relatively cheap options is similar to resting LMA and DDR against the Dubs. It says we should be realistic and realize we don’t contend this year and have our own agenda. Not bad, not good. Just how it is.

Remember all the hype about teams adding guys like Danny Granger, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson from the buyout market in recent years? Then the playoffs would roll around and they'd look old, washed, and remind everyone why they got bought out. The buyout market is overrated.
What I see as a problem is its evolution during last couple years. This season there are real solid players available for nothing. Ans even if they are washed up, it is nonsense to allow teams already deep in the tax sign people like Matthews or Kanter or Ellington for a couple bucks.

Now that the trade deadline has passed, #Spurs roaming the buyout market, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA ... still searching to add a wing player if the price is right.

Nobody in the west is competing with the Warriors this year, which is why you saw no west teams make big moves. All the big moves were done in the east.

Those upset over the Spurs not making any moves ... what did you want them to do? No good wings on the market traded hands. And paying someone to take on Gasol? The Spurs will operate over the cap anyway in the offseason so lose nothing by cutting him.

They’re right at the cap with Gasol’s full salary. Take out $9.3 million of that and you’re below the cap, but need to account for Gay’s cap hold.

Most likely outcome is they retain Gay with his early bird rights and stay over the cap. Then use full MLE on someone else (not the room MLE), and then cut Gasol and save.

How often do bought-out players actually make an impact on their new teams, though? Most of the time, they're getting bought out for a reason, not just out of the goodness of their old teams' hearts.
    Diaw?

Doesn't make sense in the West if the Warriors are still there. Best to keep cap flexibility and wait for the eventual decline of GS.

Warriors will probably lose like 1 or 2 games in the West playoffs this year. I think the hardest series for them will be the NBA Finals as they have been used to playing Cavs and now will face a new team. So yeah makes sense why East teams are trying to get better while West teams are like screw it.

Only thing that could derail this Warriors train is injurys.

One more order of business post-trade deadline. The @memgrizz are releasing Omri Casspi to get roster down to NBA limit of 15. Casspi has been sidelined with a knee injury and return this season wasn't guaranteed.

It would be impossible for him to do worse than he did in Orlando, he's having one of the worst seasons in recent history

If I am waiting for the demise of the Dubs, then I move LMA and DeMar, who are declining just behind the Dubs.

I'd say it would be a case of beggars being choosers but PATFO aren't even asking for anything. They are fine with what they have while everyone else is actively trying to get better.

Who would want either of them?

It's a very short list of teams that are content with being a middling team right now..Spurs are one of them, since Pop is nearing retirement..

Nothing available would have put them in that next tier of teams, so might as well maintain flexibility instead of giving up assets.
