*sigh* i'm gonna have to start working in a couple of months.
At the movies. I went to see a movie and saw her. She's working 11 and a half hours on her first day.
And 2 to close tomorrow! On a school night? INSANE!
At least she said it was fun and easy. I'm going to apply later this week.
*sigh* i'm gonna have to start working in a couple of months.
What theater chain is she working for? I worked for Regal when I was in high school. It's fun for about the first month or two. And when you apply, tell them you are available about half as much as you really are. Because they will work you every hour you are available, and I'm not even joking. I quit before summer break because me if I'm gonna be working 10+ hours every day during the summer.
Working the concession stand is the worst part. 95% of customers are re ed and get up the the register not knowing wtf they want (after standing in line for 20 minutes), and Regal never had the sizes of their popcorn bags displayed for customers to see (wtf Regal?) so people are always asking "How big is a medium?" etc. Plus they force you to push their "combo" sales, and if you don't offer each customer a combo they get a complimentary movie ticket. If you go by the Northwoods theater, I think I still have the record for most comp tickets given out for not offering a combo. And the amount of people who come to movies weekly (you start to remember faces after a while) and still don't know what they want on repeat visits is just amazing. I don't know how many times I was asked how much something costed or what soft drinks we had when the was right there in front of their faces, and I knew they had been there at least 20+ times since I worked there.
Working floor crew (cleaning theaters, tearing tickets) is a little better because most of the time you aren't dealing with stupid people. It only sucks during big movie weekends like when Shrek or Star Wars comes out or something. I was there for Spiderman 2 opening weekend, worst 3 days of my life. The benefit to working floor crew is you will find hats, wallets, purses, and occasionally money left on the ground. And they don't pay you enough to be honest enough to turn that stuff in without pocketing the money first. Once I found a hat with a $50 in it, but another dude I worked with said he found a wallet with $400 in it and took the cash before turning in the wallet.
I never got to work in the box office because the managers were probably sleeping with all the hot female employees on the sly and letting them work in the box. Seriously, I remember one girl got hired like 5 months after I did and kisses some seriou s manager ass and was working in the box office after 3 weeks. And you know, I tried to be a good employee, because everyone said working in the box was fun and a lot more laidback than any other position, but I never got it because I don't have boobs and a vagina. And apparently that's what you need to work in the box office because customers don't want to buy their ticket from a boy. What-the- ?
Working on weekdays was always relatively slow and easy. But also very boring. And if you have to close, you have to stay there till the last movie breaks and that's usually after 1:00AM. Not the ideal job for a high school student. I eventually said my grades were dropping (lie) so I wouldn't have to close anymore and that I had religious obligations so I couldn't work on Weds. or Sunday (lie) just to get some ing days off during the week.
And the pay was a whopping $5.50 an hour. That'll put gas in your tank, but won't put food on your table. It's not worth the stress, and I wouldn't recommend that job to anyone. I don't want to deter you from this job if you really want to work there though. You do get to see movies for free, but no other perks besides free popcorn and soda while you are on your break. There are a lot of other jobs that are as equally as fast paced and compe ive but pay much more. You can make between $7-10 working in retail, and fast food typically pays in the $6 range. Movie theater just isn't worth it. They make billions by charging ass rape prices for candy and soft drinks and can only pay their employees 35 cents over minimum wage? those crooks. them hard and dry.
Enough with the rant, just working in the movie theater pays and isn't worth the stress. There are probably better options available to you, but if you really want to work there, try it out and see for yourself. You may like it, but don't hold your breath.
time actually flys quick when ur doin sumthing instead of standin or sittin doin nothin.
I remember my theatre days, it took me a year to get box trained, and when I did I was one of the only ones they trusted, unfortunately that meant i had to work box all the time. Which would have been cool, if i wasn't in the box by myself, which i was.
Cleaning theatres i hated, only because i didn't like picking up outside food, if you're pissed that you spent $10.00 on $1.00 food go ahead and leave your . If youre a cheapass and bring in popeyes, take it with you.
I remember one time we found a load of unopened candy. ers brought in everything. Crunch bars, M&Ms, pop rocks, pixi sticks, Kit Kats. They even brought in like a case of Dr. Pepper and left like half of them. So we had a little party after we cleaned that theater. Though I still prefer dumbasses that leave cash on the ground.
you tried to be a good employee... you sound like a piece of thief to me...
If any of you ever found beer bottles....it wasn't me.![]()
haha...the last time i was at the movies the lady next to me was drinking jack and coke... i could so smell it... i was 2 seconds away was telling her to hook me up... after that, i had to go to the bar bc i was forced to sit and smell that sweet jack smell for 2 hrs!
i'm sorry was i talking to you?
you find it funny Luis?

So what is the moral of the story?
you read it? i didn't even bother its too long.
i guess they no longer teach reading in schools...........
The moral of the story is don't leave money, cellphones, wallets, hats, purses, whatever, etc, in a movie theater because movie corporations are cheap and don't pay the employees enough to turn that into lost and found. And the work environment sucks.
Tomarrow is going to be an interesting day at work for me. Bringing fart powder and candy along with immoral intentions to several gullible targets.
I decided to try the candy on myself first, and I am aggressively shooting air out both ends. Test runs (no pun intended) worked too well. I have determined I need to double the dossage per targed.
She works at Regal Cielo Vista 18. She said it was alright. She's working concession. I wanna be the dude who rips tickets. Easiest job ever man.
The only reason I wanna work there too is because of the fact you get free movies.
The self-testing has concluded. I was sand blasting the toilet for much of the night. In the future, I will not test prank devices on myself first. They come as advertised.Tomarrow is going to be an interesting day at work for me. Bringing fart powder and candy along with immoral intentions to several gullible targets.
About to leave for work. About to get VERY interesting.
i look forward to reading the results
