Spurs dont need to move up. If they did, it should only be for Zion Williamson or DeAndre Hunter. This draft is a good one in terms of abundance of wings later in the draft. No wonder RC wanted another pick in this draft. It would be genius if he anticipated this draft would be like this and would explain why he didnt go for any forwards last offseason.
    Or Cam Reddish.

Reddish could bust hard. On Tankathon's Big Board, you can toggle between per36 and advanced stats. Of the ten subcategories within those two types, he has exactly one that is green, meaning good. Four are in the red, meaning bad. Plus, he's from Duke.

I don't see that at all. Zion is the prohibitive favorite. Maybe 3-5% odds on Cam? And I don't think he can do it alone, establish himself clearly as the best. About 5 other players would have to completely bust, and he'd be the "alpha" by default. If that happened, this would probably go down as the worst draft since 2000.

Zion and Ja are the two most likely to be the best player in this draft when we look back in 5 years. Reddish is in the next grouping with Hunter, Barrett, and Garland. Personally, I like Hunter the best out of that group because is floor is higher than Reddish but Reddish has a higher ceiling. If we try to move up for a player both are worthy of the gamble for different reasons. I'd be going for hunter but I certainly understand why they might prefer Cam.

Theoretically Spurs would’ve traded Kawhi for 3 1st round picks in the Top 10. (#8, #10, #9 Poetl) The kawhi trade would look a lot better if that plays out with Derozan to Knicks (after they trade with Atlanta)

Idk if it’s been discussed but cam Reddish is having a “minor” surgery that will keep him out 6 weeks. I know it’s just minor but I wonder if it will affect his draft status at all

I'm pretty sure that doesn't work for the knicks - it would eat into their cap space to sign FA's, so they couldn't get Durant and Kyrie...

    from a Bleacher Report article

Taurean Prince, meanwhile, stands to become expendable if the Hawks draft Jarrett Culver or another wing—and depending on what they do in free agency. A Poeltl-for-Prince swap makes sense for both sides if Atlanta doesn't take a big in the first round or pay a lot of money to keep Dewayne Dedmon.
would make a ton of sense from a cap space perspective. Poeltl is an expiring while Prince is locked into his rookie contract for another 2 years

masslive.com: NBA Mock Draft 2019: Zion Williamson, Ja Morant and what might happen if the Boston Celtics traded up?
Updated 7:47 AM; Today 6:00 AM [AKA 3 June 2019]

    19. San Antonio Spurs: Goga Bitadze, Georgia. Bitadze very well might not slip this far -- he seems to be rising up draft boards with his 3-point shooting and passing as a 7-footer -- but he would be a perfect fit within San Antonio’s system.
    29. San Antonio Spurs: KZ Okpala, Stanford. Somehow, the Spurs pick up Bitadze and Okpala in the same mock draft here. Okpala struggled as the season went on at Stanford, but he showed flashes of lottery potential with his size, athleticism and ability to score in a variety of ways. San Antonio feels like the perfect place to maximize him.

    19
    Rui Hachimura
    F Gonzaga
    San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs don’t generally pick this high – considering that No. 19 isn’t high at all suggests all you need to know about the amount of success that this organization has endured – but adding a player like Rui Hachimura could be a big win at this point.

    in the NBA

At one point this past season, there were mocks that had Hachimura in the top 10. Yes, it’s been that much of an up-and-down year for Hachimura when it comes to his draft stock. Nevertheless, he’s the type of prospect that could really develop into a good player down the line.

And what better place for him to do so than with the Spurs. This is a first-class organization that has developed players in so many instances.
    29
    Ty Jerome
    G Virginia
    San Antonio Spurs

At 6-foot-5, Ty Jerome has great size for a guard but will be hard-pressed to be a first-round selection in the NBA Draft. There are questions about his athleticism and whether the lack of it will hinder him at the next level.
    00:01 / 00:15
    SKIP AD

However, there are still certainly attributes to like about his game. For example, he’s a tough defender that never shied away. That could certainly help him find a spot on an NBA roster, certainly something that an organization like the Spurs could appreciate.

San Antonio could add some depth to their backcourt by taking Jerome, even if it does come with some risk at No. 29.

Fansided: Soaring Down South: 2019 NBA Draft: Full Mock Draft 4.0, Atlanta Hawks Trade Down to Pick at 8, 14 & 22, Lakers Trade #4
by Chris Guest 2 days ago [AKA 1 June 2019]

    19
    Goga Bitadze
    Center, San Antonio Spurs

Sure, it might be clichéd, but the San Antonio Spurs will be taking a highly regarded international prospect in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft (at least in this humble mock-up!).

Goga Bitadze followed in the footsteps of his feted EuroLeague alumnus Luka Doncic by being named the league’s Rising Star for the 2018-19 season, and with good reason: He possesses the coveted combination of three-point shooting and rim protection that every single team in the league is looking for in today’s NBA.

Beyond that, his stats (per Tankathon) for Budućnost in Montenegro showcase a potentially interesting NBA future. With an insanely high 75.3 free throw attempt rate, Bitadze is shooting 71.4 percent from the line on over 5 attempts at the charity stripe per game. When you realize that Bitadze is only playing roughly 23 minutes per contest – that level of production at the stripe conveys a fascinating skill set for teams to ponder at the next level.

The Spurs often employ a rotating cadre of big men, though even Popovich has gone more in the direction of small-ball in recent years. With Bitadze, Coach Pop would have the best of both worlds, as the Georgia-born (the country, not the state) big man could hang out on the perimeter then be right back at the rim on defense on the other end. A seamless fit for the Spurs at #19 overall.
    29
    Bruno Fernando
Center, San Antonio Spurs (via Toronto Raptors)

Though Bruno Fernando of Maryland is apparently (surprisingly) in the mix for the Atlanta Hawks with the #10 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, in this mock draft, he falls all the way to the end of the first round where the San Antonio Spurs take him with the pick acquired in the Kawhi Leonard trade.

While it seems that the Raps got the far better end of that deal as Toronto is headed to its first-ever NBA Finals appearance in franchise history, the Spurs having two picks in this draft is fortuitous. With plenty of young guard options already in the fold (Lonnie Walker, Derrick White, Dejounte Murray) as well as former All-Star DeMar DeRozan entrenched in the lineup, the Spurs will take two contrasting big men in the 2019 NBA Draft.

While the team previously opted for the stretch five capabilities of international star Goga Bitadze, later on in the first round, R.C. Buford and Gregg Popovich opt for the immense heft of Bruno Fernando – who showcased tremendous growth in his sop re campaign.

Most of Fernando’s scoring damage was done in the paint (where he shot 71.3 percent at the rim, per Bart Torvik), but he also showcased the ability to step out for deep midrangers – shooting 45.5 percent on over 100 non-rim twos.

Beyond that, his 77.9 percent clip from the foul line conveys excellent touch, which is, of course, a better determining factor for NBA three-point success than other percentages.

Herro at 16 and Mfiondu at 17? Yes, please.

If the draft works out like the latest ESPN mock draft, that wouldn't be bad at all. At 19, they'd get to pick between Goga, both Johnsons, Porter and Bol. At 29, there's still a ton of interesting prospects: Bazley, Samanic, Claxton, Roby, THT, Windler, Chuma, Williams, etc. Even 49 has a few interesting prospects left.

This draft is pretty shallow with can't-miss prospects but it has plenty of intriguing, boom or bust prospects. Usually intriguing prospects are gone by pick 20 most years but this year you can get one of those guys perhaps even at 49.
