With Durant out, if Kawhi even signs a 1 + 1 to stay in Toronto and get to that next salary tier, I wonder if West would consider flipping one of his future first rounders (2020 PHI 2021 MIA (unprotected)) for DD.
West is too smart, I suspect, to do that - especially for the 2021 Miami pick, which is considered to be among the best outstanding picks around, but who knows.

If LAC wants to improve next season without sacrificing cap for the 2020 off season then they could take DeRozan into their cap space in exchange for giving us the Philly 2020 pick- which is probably going to be a 25th or worse. They only have $22 million committed in 2020; enough to sign Kawhi, re-sign DDR and maybe Gallinari.

Spurs would have enough to keep Gay's cap hold, sign Bojan Bogdanovic, and sign their two first rounders.

    Murray, Mills
    White, Forbes, Walker,
    Bogdanovic, Beli, 1st rounder
    Aldridge, Gay, Bertans, 1st rounder
    Poeltl, Metu

Spurs don’t have the money for Bojan . He ain’t coming and Patty Mills is staying.

We will have the same roster minus possibly Gay and add a couple washed up trash to fill out the roster.

If you read the scenario that you qouted then the Spurs would have about $20 in cap space-including Mills, and I barely mentioned Mills so it's weird that you brought him up.

About what I expect, making another inconsequential move at the deadline to move a G and relieve the backcourt logjam.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs do a "gasol" with Belinelli, trading him or even just releasing him, but still paying him.

It seems inevitable they'll do something about the guard situation.

This isn’t football unfortunately where you can pay a portion of salaries in a trade (effectively by converting to a signing bonus). Could either pay $5mm or so like in the Kawhi trade to lessen blow, or have him take less than expected salary in a buyout. Can’t adjust contract dollars in a trade for cap purposes.

He most likely will go back to New Orleans. He liked it there and now that Davis is gone................

Our only hope is in the draft. No $ for any quality FAs because there’s no chance of off loading our bad contracts (Mills) or non-shooting liablities (DD). No chance of any sort of lottery pick that makes a difference because PATFO won’t suc b to sucking bad enough to get there.

Mediocrity or luck in the draft to find the next Kawhi. The plight of just about every small market team in the West not located in California. Even Dallas and Houston can’t break through....

Maybe we can trade up with 16 and 29 to about 12 and get a difference maker...not sure there are any in this draft outside of top 2 picks. But then again, I didn’t think Kawhi would turn out to be 2 x Finals MVP.

Pretty good breakdown of the top 50 free agaents. There are a few 6’8-6’9 combo foward options that might help. https://expo.cleveland.com/sports/g6...p-50-list.html

But I guess, none of the SF here would bite for only the MLE.

wouldn’t surprise me if patty got moved.

spurs should be desperate to do whatever it takes to make a splash / make the money work.

Moving him is definitely key to doing something in this free agency. We'd have to hope some dumbass GM values him so that we don't have to send out any assets attached

Jefferson in NJ had his offer rescinded, now an UFA. I think he would be a good target with our MLE (I don't he would command more than $9 in the open market?)

RHJ is a nice player, good defender, high character guy, but he can’t shoot at all, and even Chip won’t be able to fix it up to a respectable level quickly. Don’t know how he fits in our SL, we already have a lot of bad shooters, no spacing whatsoever

I actually wanted us to draft RHJ a few years back. I watched a decent amount of Brooklyn games this year and he had his moments. It is worth nothing that he actually played pretty well in the playoffs when he got PT, that is a very limited sample size though.

With that said his 3%, fg%, and ft% were all career lows this past year which is concerning. I mean he was under 20% from the arc this year. Without a solid jumper he isn't really worth picking up imo, at least not for the MLE. If you can get him cheaper he is probably worth taking a flier on to see if you can fix his shot, but not really worth the mle imo.

Jefferson will cost a lot less than the MLE. I'd say something in Belinelli's range, around 5 million. And he shouldn't start either, would be good to have him as a bench piece for defense. Lock him up on a cheap long term deal and if you can develop him you have a good value contract. I'd definitely target him

But there’s a midget lineup with him that would actually make sense:
