So Carroll now gets 3 years, 20-some millions, and Morris 2 years, $20 mill (possibly a rental, since 2nd is player option).
How do they align with LMA and DDR contracts? Looks like we're gonna be riding those losers for a couple more seasons?
Seriously. Spurs have killed it this offseason.

Gay was/is trash in the playoffs.
For the past 2 years his shooting % drops to 40 in the playoffs. Lower rebounds too.
Not worth 32 million.
Are we going to ignore the fact that Bobby Marks knew about the trade like an hr before hand before Woj and Shams reported it?![]()
We owe you Sean Marks
Bertans is also a FA in 12 months, so why not turn that salary slot into something more useful right now? Had he gone and signed elsewhere, Spurs wouldn’t be able to replace.
I was an apologist after the Denver series but fact of the matter is he can’t stay on the floor against big teams. When that kind of liability on defense, not worth it.
Legend tbh
I think he just knew that extending carroll made no sense, especially having not played a minute in a spurs uniform, outside of the context of doing a S&T and then being able to use the MLE. I am not a capologist but I had a feeling extending carroll was going to precede SOMETHING (even if I talked RC when it was announced)
major LOB move tbh
Is he related to Sean Marks, tbh?
He does us favors unlike that got Brett Brown
It pays to have connections like dumping splitter to bud a while back
Or finding a soft landing spot for Gasol so the clearly superior player (Poetl) could get his role back.
Being the best run organization in sports, and therefore having former Spurs executives scattered all over the league definitely pays off.![]()
I'm impressed. I watched a good deal of Celtics ball last year, living on the East coast and curious whether my expectations of their utter mediocrity were true. He was one of the few players I thought I'd want on the Spurs. Multi-skilled and tough. How they pulled this is remarkable and he potentially/probably solves the question of what the starting line-up looks like. I have no idea why no one else picked him up. Not that he's a savior, but he was more than solid in Brad Stevens' nonexistent 'offense', and played tough defense. I'd far rather have him over Cousins, for example.
You're dumber than my dog's .
Mother than Bertans can’t rebound, can’t defend, and couldn’t hit a shot to save his life the last three months yeah he’s better 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Were you saying those things BEFORE he was traded?
Would be nice if we could trade one of the traffic cone SGs (Mills or Beli) for a 3rd Center
I say cut Metu and sign Thomas Robinson.....or we could always sign Nene...lol
Great signing. Woke up this awesome bit of news. Spurs are going for it. This guy will lead by example.
Hate losing Bertans - but obviously a good move.
Lonnie Walker is coming though- boys -
I think he will surprise people with his progress this season - Jesus - just look at how better his body is compared to last year -
he looks stronger, faster, and if he stays healthy - look out!
I'd make sure Forbes understands he needs to give up minutes for Skywalker!
Holy . I look away for a couple of hours, and they move Bertans and get Marcus Morris? Nice.
Spurs rotation next season:
White/IB
DeMar/Forbes
DeMarre
Morris/Gay
LMA/Jacob
I had high hopes for Bertans but his shooting fell off the planet into a black hole toward the end of the season...pretty much got shoved off the floor by Milsap and Craig in the Denver serious and neither one of those guys play all that physical...and after drafting Luka I always figured his days were numbered...
Spurs basically turned Bertans and 6 million into Carroll and Morris...thats a pretty good flip...those guys should be eating all the starting power forward minutes...backup power forward minutes...and backup small forward minutes...
Morris is a perfect fit for what the spurs want to do on both sides of the ball so outside of a legit star they couldn't have gotten a better player this off season...
Can the Spurs pay Morris more money next year if he's a good fit and he opts out with his player option?
Is that Carroll Deal fully guarantee 3rd year
