Nothing. It's the Spurs, and for that reason David Stern Deux and the NBA don't care.
Don't see how this falls on PATFO. A verbal agreement is just that until both parties sign on the dotted line.
It's extremely rare that players back out at the last second, but it's happened before and will likely happen again. You have to trust players against their word and hope they don't out on you.
The only thing the Spurs could have done is made the deal official sooner, but they were trusting in the agreement and were looking to make more moves to improve the team. This is 100% on Morris and Klutch, not the Spurs.

I dont think Murray will go down the Kawhi path or be influenced by Bron but only time will tell. Klutch Sports is cancerous and shouldn't even be allowed to represent anybody in the NBA, I do agree with that.
Marcus Morris seems to be more problem that what he's worth.
Spurs now have to figure out what to do with the $10m.
Who's out there?
This is a pretty seismic event. I don't know what will happen, but this is incredibly significant for a league built on trust, verbal agreements, and quickness of the free agency period, etc. I doubt Silver has the clout or really the spine to do anything about it, but the NBA is starting to wobble out of place more and more. Amazingly, the Spurs have been the site of detonation twice.
you guys think klutch arranged some STD infected hooker to bang bullock, causing him to fail his physical and leading the knicks to pursue morris like this?
The free agency market is dried up, only player I’d want is Kelly oubre and the MLE probably isn’t enough money. Some have suggested trey lyles but I’m not a fan
You know what, him. I don't believe JaMychal Green has officially signed and the Spurs were interested (along with the Nuggets and Knicks).
I don't know whether the offer was for the full MLE or not, but if not, they should offer it now. That would nearly double the room exception he's getting with the Clippers.
Doesn't matter. A first class agency still honors their word. If the market dried up for Morris, and all that was left was the vet minimum, I guarantee PATFO still honors their agreement because they're first class through and through.
Lol... that's like making a paper airplane to some countries and Klutch has a greater GDP than some of those guys.
Some of those players make more than the gross GDP of some countries, for that matter.
Tbh, it'd be funny if this starting a ripple of reneging![]()
Morris would go to the Knicks, then just get traded at the all star break to OKC or some team.
The 2011 draftees haven’t been kind to the Spurs.
Yeah a this point I don't even think it is worth it to have him on the team...
Although watching Pop jerk him out of minutes all year to keep his value low would be funny...
Morons, he's not choosing Knicks over Spurs. He's choosing the Big Apple over the Alamo City.
No-brainer tbh.
Worse, they'll waive him at the end of the season and he can go join a contender.
At this point. All the whispers were yesterday. The fact they are releasing it today just solidifies that he made his mind up. He is going tk the Knicks. Fishy fishy.
typical bull you'll only see in this league
I think the Klutch whining is a bit overblown but ..... Pop refused to talk to Arn Tellem for like a decade after Lamond Murray reneged back in 2001. Maybe even longer, tbh.
Honestly if the only price to ing over Rich Paul and the Lakers was losing Marcus Morris for a year, I'd pay that every time![]()
All they need to do is insert language that no player (looking at you LeBron) can own an agency that reps NBA players. The show of the last few years has all been cause by Klutch.
Didnt someone say he already turned down more money from sa?
The worst consequence for the Spurs if this deal is indeed shot is that Pop will grow even more paranoid and insular, doubling down on groupthink (culture) and obedience over talent more than ever. Pop and Buford might actually start developing a phobia for talent after getting burned too many times by the free market for their liking.
I'm done with Morris. He's mercenary and incredibly short-sighted. This may have an impact on him next summer.
The bigger issues are pretty important.
Why do the Knicks do this? What the are they thinking? I can understand an upstart agency doing this, but a franchise?
The impact on agencies will be big going down the line. The NBA is an assortment of idiotic fiefdoms competing amongst themselves and I don't expect anyone to wall Rich Paul out, but this is bad. The league leadership will definitely need to consider what is going on.
This is certainly not the PATFO's fault. They did everything the way it's always done -- verbal commitments, quick movement, getting things done. Now we have this slop. Morris is potentially ing himself. Good. But the bigger issue is the way players are trampling all over what used to happen in the league and not in a good way.
