I know it's hard to accept what happened. I should be an insomniac today and we should have been playing game one of the WCF last nite. However, look at what the Spurs did in their series against the Mavs. They have exposed the fact that the Mavs play no defense.

A defensive minded team is more than just shutting down a team on a play or two; it's shutting down and taking control of the game. The Mavericks simply didn't do that last night. They were up +9 late in the game but loss the game by -3. In layman's terms what does that mean? It means that the Mavericks cannot protect leads.

If the Suns can continue to play their game, you will see the Mavericks continually be exposed by smaller line ups, sharp shooting and mismatches where fast break points just roll off the Suns' side of the ledger.

And to think, a seven game series by the Spurs exposed this little trait. They just couldn't capitalize on it.

Suns won the game its true. Mavs blew a lead. I still have confidence in our abilities to win the series though. Winning Game 1 didn't do much to help your team now did it?

The Mavs definitely aren't a "shutdown" defense...

But they blew their own foot off last night. 3 TO's, a couple missed shots, and only 4 pts? in the last 3 min's. Sure, Nash went off...but they should've still won the game. Their offense completely failed...and the defense didn't help much either. Having Stack on Diaw was a terrible matchup at the end...

Yup, that's exactly what happened to the Spurs a couple games last series.

I bet Mavs pull out this series against the Suns though. I'm going to say in 6 though.

Every game where Spurs let the Mavs get 100+ points, the Mavs won 4 times.

Every game where Spur held the Mavs get 100- points, the Spurs won 3 times.

Spurs fans have no grounds for pointing out Mavs weak defense, when the Spurs' own weak defense sent the Spurs fishing.

Spurs 06 defense was nowhere near what it was in 05.

Yeah, winning games 3 and 4 in Dallas really helped you, where's games 3 ad 4 this series?

Spurs defense didn't send the team fishing. Manu making a bonehead play did it. Stop believing the bull that the Spurs didn't have a defense in that series. The only game that was a blow out was game 2.

And to have a Sacramento Kings fan mention that the Spurs didn't have a defense? Funny didn't the Spurs send ur ass home packing in ur own building? Hmm.....

Back to Mav fans. If your team can't beat the Suns WITHOUT AMARE STOUDAMIRE, I wonder just how much faith you have in them? Your team is notorious for blowing leads in crucial series. I don't think the Suns are going to be that easy to get away with and they took your home court advantage away from you on the firs game by beating you at your own game.

Dayum that must suck because neither one of these squads are playing anything close to the definition of what basketball defense is.

Phoenix exploits every teams defense. Dallas just needs to do it more on the other end. So much for defense winning championships. Detroit might be the next to go down.

Don't believe it. Remember Game 7, when you guys took that huge-ass lead and the Spurs climbed back in it by getting stops in the second half? Getting key stops is still a huge difference-maker.

You guys were the better team (or at least matched up better), but we nearly walked off with it anyway.

You're never going to shut down Phoenix, but if you want to advance, you have to make the key stops.

No offense G bone, but you talk alot of about a team that just destroyed the Spurs.

87.3% in the first half of a Game 7.

The Spurs had no defense either. Scoreboard said Dallas advanced. You can stop kissing Pop's ass now.
